I live in Kalamazoo , it was about a 5 or 6 hour drive for me to get there . I saw Def Leppard there headlining , that was about 1983 . I saw Ozzy there a couple of times . Iron Maiden , I think I saw Judas Priest up there also . Concerts there were pretty cool because the castle was the stage backdrop , so to speak . The ride home the next day was really loooooong though . I was wondering what happened to it but I never thought of googling it until tonight . I had some pretty good times at the shows there.

They host weddings and such there now. The pictures I have seen are beautiful but I also miss the concerts. I do not have any cool stories about meeting the stars but I did have some great memories--- uh, what I can remember. The gates were pretty loose and everything was allowed in.

I can't find a list and I have been searching for about 2 hours but here is my list of the ones I went to:

Aug 15, 1981 Bob Seger
July 28, 1981 Ted Nugent
Aug 18, 1981 Tom Petty
July 16, 1981 Foghat (backstage pass)
Sept 5, 1981 The Doobie Brothers
May 30, 1982 Ozzy Osbourne
Aug 22, 1982 Heart and John Cougar
June 18, 1983 Def Leppard
Aug 7, 1983 Loverboy
May 27, 1984 Scorpions
July 8, 1984 .38 Special
July 21, 1984 Aerosmith
Aug 25, 1984 Quiet Riot
1984 Night Ranger partied in parking lot
1990's sometime Tesla (no stub)

So that should help fill in some of the gaps.

Good luck with any more.

Jill, wow we were at a couple of the same concerts, Foghat 81, and 38 special 84, went back stage with 38 special on a promotional gig with a radio station and partyed with the band, Don Barnes & one of the Van Zandt brothers.. I lived up north on the east side of the state, that place was always a blast, also seen ZZ top, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Flock of Seagul's & a few others...

yes, I saw Def Leppard, Krokus and I think Gary Moore late summer of 84. I still get chills when I hear "screaming in the night" by Krokus and flashback to those good times. I also remember Def Leppard nailing Zepplins "Rock and Roll". I don't do concerts now because I don't do crowds well. I went to Woodstock in 1994 and will never be the same.

I saw Chicago there in August, I believe, of 1979 with Orleans as the warm up band. They were releasing Chicago XIII and had Donnie Dacus on guitar. As I recall it was a Friday night. I drove up with a friend from Sault Ste. Marie. Great show. This was before they became a power ballad band.

Scorpions in 84'@ the Castle was a rite of passage for me. I was 15 and to this day, it's one of my best memories of growing up in MIchigan. A feew years later, I also saw Sting on the Nothing Like the Sun tour. FANTSTIC!!

I used to spend every summer of my life up in Charlevoix, and boy do I have memories...I used to work at the Parkside Dining room & we had a buddy who would hook many of us with front row or second row tickets for every Castle concert, because he worked at the Wharfside party store, where back in the day, he would get his hands on the tickets first & deliver them right next store to about 20 of us each concert. Thinking back to those concerts brings some unbelievable memories I will NEVER forget...From jumping in the back of a truck with 10 - 12 castle farm rockers to catch a ride back to town, pulling one of my brothers out the medical tents for too much alcohol intake, to just having blasts of fun! I am so bummed my kids won't have the same experience, knowing they revamped the entire castle & there have not been concerts in years - Quite Sad! It was like a mini wood stock for a day! From the Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Foghat, Tom Petty, Billy Idol, Reo Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Quiet Riot,.... the list is too long, but I agree, there should be an area where we can see all the concerts that took place at the castle!! If anyone finds it, please post it....The next best thing I have been able to experience the past 5-7 years is Bliss Fest that takes place every July in Northern Michigan - What a weekend of fun camping with many great bands!!! If you are not familar with Bliss Fest, google it....and join the fun each summer!!

I still have some ticket stubs (tickets were $8.50!): Beach Boys 1977; Doobie Brothers 1977 and 1980; Tom Petty 1981; The Cars (yay, Cars) 1980; Cheap Trick 1981; The Police 1982. I was a teenager, and on the excitement level those concerts were off the charts for me.
