Cheat Lake Construction and Crash Concerns

The Cheat Lake area of I-68 has been the scene of several fatal accidents since bridge construction started more than a month ago.

Of course repairing Cheat Lake bridge is a necessity; however, I have decided not to live in the Cheat Lake area afer the numerous auto crashes. I am not surprised, unfortunately. It seems as though drivers are not taking road signs seriously until they are nearly to the site itself, forcing them to brake focefully. I have been watching cars skid to a halt for weeks, taken by surprise when they see that traffic is frequently at a standstill approaching the bridge. Also, I am disappointed in the lack of consideration that drivers have for one another on busy, dangerous highways. It is extremely difficult to wait for a quick chance to merge into the correct lane while impatient drivers refuse to slow and allow traffic to flow in. Why not utilize more police patrol of the area to enforce the 55 mph speed limit and basic traffic laws? I, like many others in the area, use the old Cheat bridge to commute into town each day. I have vowed not to cross the main bridge from the Cheat exit until I move away from the incredibly dangerous area. I am disappointed in the response by road crews and local officials in regard to this week's multiple accidents. Are we going to hold our breath for the next four to five weeks and hope nothing else happens?

Is there a pattern of wrong way accidents with the current construction set up? My son's friend was recently killed by the I-68 accident. He was going the wrong way hitting another vehicle, killing one and seriously injuring another. The tow truck company called his father called saying you need to get down here. There have been several accidents like this down here. Something to do with the way they have it marked is causing drivers to get on the wrong way?
His family and friends needs answers and I'm sure the other families. What are your thoughts? I'm not from the area. Thank you.
