Has anyone heard about the drug busts that happened this weekend? I know who was involved just wanted to know where they were and if they were manufacturing the meth

We will probably never know. Before the new sheriff we were able to read about those types of things in the Independence Report but now there is nothing in there about what is going on with the Chautauqua County sheriff's dept.

That is because we no longer have a good Sheriff in Chautauqua County. Our Sheriff would have to get his fat ass out of the office to make a bust.

Lets see we have a involutary man-slaughter case and one of the men involved gets 2 years in jail.. the others involved are just now getting arrested and you think that a drug bust case is going to get seven years (if the paper work is done right) they aren't going to serve seven years how ridiculous it wasn't even that good of a bust.

People need to stop blaming the Law Enforcement Officers for things they as Deputy's and Officers have no control over.

Sheriff's, Deputy's and Police Officer"s have very little control or say when a person goes to court, the punishment or anything else that happens after the person is arrested. Once the paper work is turned over to the County Attorney everything that happens after that is controlled by the lawyers and judges.

It would be a great help in solving many problems that the Sheriff/Police face if people would stop complaining, find out what their job entails, how you could be of assistance then get involved.

But I guess it is much easier to just set and complain.

Time for me to get off the soap box and go to work.

Dear Ex Sedan Cop:

You're right. Nearly everyone thinks he's an expert, and whether he does or doesn't know what he's talking about, he "just sits and complains." But I hope you realize there are some people who appreciate the hard work you, deputies and others do in law enforcement.

No need for the apostrophes as the usage is plural (more than one). Sheriffs, Deputies and Police Officers ...

Why would you post about grammar?

Because it matters. Apostrophes indicate the post is about something belonging to a sheriff, a deputy, or a police officer - for example, sheriff's patrol, deputy's badge, police officer's car. Instead it is about multiple sheriffs, deputies, and police officers.

Honestly you people are amazing... you gripe about one thing and then completly change subject onto something that has no relevance to anything that was previously said. We were inquiring about a drug bust not a grammar lesson. You people that hang out in "scanner land", or scope the Police report in the news paper for clues to try and play detective, disgust me. You have absolutly know knowledge of the judicial system if you really think Police Officers and Deputy's have any say over how long a person is sentenced. My advice to you is find a law book and do some touching up before you bitch.

"Police Officers and Deputy's" that should be deputies and there's no reason to put capital letters on police, officers and deputies.

We have a scanner and the night they were looking for young girl, they did not put out any description, they just scrambled it so no one would know who it was. If was my kid I would want them to put out a description in case someone had seen them.
By the way, can we afford a new jail like the sheriff wants???? I have heard it is going to cost somewhere between 3 million to as high as 5 million. It will take approximtely 10 to 15 years to pay for this. Maybe this needs to be discussed at a public forum. I believe we need a new jail but why don't they apply for a grant to build it? Maybe the sheriff wouldn't get as plush a jail as he thinks he needs!!!!!!!!!

what do you mean you have heard? did you not read the news paper that explained and answered all the question?

and if you think there needs to be a public forum then how will complaining online get that done?

we are spending this money any ways by paying to house criminals in other jails - it's a penny on your purchase, not on home owners it's equally charged to all of sedan and it's visiting shoppers

And we believe everything we read in the paper too. GET REAL. Perry will say anything to get his way. I sure hope the NEW SHERIFF will enjoy the new jail, as I do believe Perry won't get elected for another term after this one.

I believe the sheriff wrote not only the questions but the answers. I also believe that the article was mis-leading in the fact that, to me, it read that if we vote no for the jail then the costs will be absorbed by charging more for real estate taxes, there is a lot more involved then just saying okay it didn't pass we are going to put it on the people that own property. There has to be another vote or bonds issued there are different ways but it doesn't just happen. I think those that want the jail want you to believe that so that you will vote yes. People NEED to know what their options are and to my understanding there are some open meetings regarding this, at least be informed before you vote.

I would like to know when and where these "Open Meetings" will be, because I would like to attend in order to be more informed of the problems and ALL the options before I vote "yes" on anything costing the citizens of CQ County any additional money that we can not afford. I know there has not been anything written in the newspapers about these meetings. Getting a new jail has just been decided by a group of people,(which include the Sheriff, which I don't believe he should be on the committe, which is just my opinion),please tell me of when and where these meetings will be so that I can attend and become "more informed" Thank you

I went to the courthouse and got my information concerning the election, I was told by a member of the city council that would be a meeting this evening but I didn't ask where as I was unable to attend and I didn't see it in the paper. I was also told that all the information(costs concerning the jail etc.) has to be disclosed in the paper prior to the election. If you are wanting information I suggest you call the county clerk's office or watch the newspaper prior to the election or attend a commissioner's meeting and ask some questions. We do need a new jail there is no question about it but we need to be informed and not bullied into something we can't afford especially in these tough times.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Taurus

Everything seems to be getting under your skin at the moment, but this is no excuse to lose your temper, and you know it. Better by far to be discreet and plough on steadily, without looking to the left or right. If you keep your feet on the ground and don't get discouraged, there are definitely fair winds that will blow you along. It's just a question of finding the right balance between confidence and commonsense.
