The police are NOT trained to maim. They are trained that if they have to use their weapons, it should be with the intent to kill. I wasn't there and can't really say if using deadly force was necessary. I know that driving away and leaving him waving a rifle was not an option. What should they have done? If they had waited and HE shot someone, it would be the police's fault for not acting sooner. It's a no win.

I hate to think about Chattanooga returning downtown to the way it used to be. Downtown is really a great place, but up around MLK (why are all the bad placed named MLK? I'm sure King would not care for it) it gets really bad.

Unless its a spinal cord shot, or brain. The useless piece of trash will continue to live untill he bleeds out.
So you 9mm fans out there, a .45 hole will let blood out 4 times faster.

you ever been shot..if the bullet passes thru neither the 9mm or 45 will bleed very long..unless it hits bone,,then it dont matter which one hits you it will blow the bone out and cause bleding..i was shot thru one arm with a 357 mag.it missed the bone caused little damage,stoped bleeding in just a few min..other wound was a little 380 it hit bone and and i about bleed to death from it..size of bullet dont matter,its what the bullet hits passing thru the body..

How did 13 shots miss ? You need a little more practice boys. When officers are faced with deadly force they are not trained trick shooters and can shoot the gun from someones hand.They make a split second decision and when met with deadly force, so is returned. Training teaches to shoot until the threat is a threat no more. They did nothing wrong. They were put in a situation that could not have turned out good.

first of all, you people need to understand the facts on what happened.

the guy was walking around with a rifle pointed under his chin at a Mcdonalds. The cops showed up and followed him to his home about three blocks away. They pleaded with him for almost a half hour to drop the gun. He wouldn't.

They tried to taze him. Didn't work.

He then pointed the weapon at the police. All six fired their magazines. How many here have been in a gun fight?? I have. Novice troops under stress will fire what they THINK is one or two rounds, only to see their weapon is empty. One reason why professional soldiers don't usually carry fully automatic rifles.

The man was STILL trying to raise his weapon, everyone had to reload..and guess what??.. The man GOT OFF A ROUND AT THE POLICE.

Alot of the wounds counted were exit wounds.

also..the ammunition used didn't penetrate very well..the cops issued ammunition was expansive hydro shock type ammunition designed for rapid expanse..most of the bullets only went into the man about an inch. One round hit his heart, killing him out of all of them.

But then again, what do I know I only know two of the cops who were involved.

also...calling the situation "racist"...LOL..if the guy was white you can bet he would have been shot just as fast. Only then, though none of the token race baters would say anything. or care.

if this lunatic were running around your neighborhood swinging around a rifle, a neighborhood where your wife and children were out and about on a normal day.

i doubt anyone would complain about the actions that the police dept. takes to get him off the street and no longer a threat to the civil members of that community.

to protect and serve is what their job description is.
that's what the law abiding tax payers pay for.
anything less than that, and you would have a true reason to complain.

That is all well and good but it still DOES NOT justify what the cops did.

i knew him and he was not that kind of person as the media protrays him to be. people need to let go and let GOD. the officers were very in the wrong and they will be judged at the end.....
