Where was he? Doesn't he GET PAID to run a clean functioning DEPT? Oh, I forgot he got the hell out of town ASAP. You are paid to do a job, it's not an ego trip It's a job the city pays you to do. Where does he get all his info about how things are going? Does he listen to staff or is he a man of facts?

Do I need to draw a hierarchy table for you? The Mayor is responsible for looking into these types of issues BEFORE they get out of hand. You'd think with all the othe departments in the news he'd been on top of his job, but... Here we go more trash. It's not Terry's fault.

It is the Detectives fault. It is the Chief's duty to handle the situation according to rules and policy. The Chief's statments in the original report were so ignorant.

This is what you get when you elect high brow over intelligence . Jeff Cloer, I hope you run again. These elected official in Murray County think this is play time. I'm SURE this mayor was warned about Jim, but he'll try to high brow an excuse.

Blame the mayor? He probably didn't even know anything about it until it was over. The police Chief is the one responsible. Sounds like Martin should have let him go years ago. Everybody in town including past mayors knew of whiteheads sexual probls. He just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar one too many times. It is Parker's wife who is just as guilty. It takes two. I doubt the mayor knew what was going on it is not like this is a big city where the mayor has much control. Pretty much a figurehead.

Mayor of Chatsworth has little or no authourity. He no longer is the City Judge like they used to be. He can only vote in case of a tie on the Council. He is mostly a figurehead and he makes almost no money for what is a time consuming job.
Doesn't really matter who the Mayor is, the City Council runs the city.
Martin should have let it go and just put it down as a job reduction. Probably would not have ever been in the paper.
Now by there being 2 seperation notices the situation is mucked up.
Don't see why Whitehead doesn't just let it go away quietly.

Parkers wife does not work for the City of Chatsworth. She is onIy quilty of falling for the snake oil salesman. As for the mayor, he knew that moral was bad at the police department. How the hell could he not.. Everybody in Chatsworth & Dalton knows, BUT the mayor? Write that sentence 10 times you dumb ass see if it makes sense. Maybe something EPIC will come out of this, like an activity REPORT. I wonder If the Mayor when he "took" over bothered to look at one of those. Roll the Dice - Roll Roll it.. I bet NO.

You're all so quick to point fingers and name names...
except YOURS' of course.
Did you ever think if it wasn't true about the texting or whatever that all you've done is to cause trouble between a man and his wife??
Of course not,you didn't care one way or the other.
You just wanted to stir another pot of ----.
Keep some kind of stink going about somebody.

Are you smoking crack? I don't care where you work ( McDonald's) if you know an employee is remotely trying to "get with" another employes wife/husband ? Besides, numb nut... Can you imagine what type of work environment this will create? Let's not forget ( if ) he was texting on a Compnay phone as the article states, that's all you need. No wonder your county is a lust festival, you're proof of it. At one time your county as known or knocked up teenagers well, now we know why... Mommy & daddy's over there are oversexed. It all makes sense now, and we thought you all were just uneducated. That does not count your commish online degrees.

Hey parapro ..I mean paraplegic we are reading the artical from the news paper. Some of the folks here are not claiming to have the inside scoop, like you. We are Reading what the tax dollars are paying for. I'm sure all they have to do is check the work logs. You know, see who was working doing their jobs or who was chasing women. It's not that hard, well maybe for you. Since you can see were this thread started.

My guess is the city DID NOT have written policy, being the reason the termination was reversed so quickly to be called a reduction in force.

Termination on grounds not covered under written/signed policy could have had potential consequences the city could not defend.

Botched all the way around in my opinion.

Conduct policy has been a fact of life in the "real world" for 20 years or more. Unfortunately most small, local governments don't have to live in the real world, even in 2012.

The failings of city hall and the chief of police have allowed Whitehead to pull down $15-20K in unemployment benefits at the expense of the taxpayers for what would certainly be a fireable offense in over 90% of business/industry/government jobs in America

City council what a joke one on there I heard had an affair with one former official I guess council members can have affairs and keep there job this town needs to be called whoreville and it would boost the economy no need for businesses to come here if people would listen to me it would work sell t shirts cakes jewelry make a big sign as you come into town and existing off interstate instead of chatsworth it should say whoreville next exit we would need more lodging for sure people would exit right off the bat
