When is our government going to crack down on the drug running through Mexico? I haven't heard Romney or Obama say they're going to do anything other than the same ol. I don't care about the illegals all that much, but this drug, weapons, and sex slave trade is bothering me a great deal. Why don't they start considering it an invasion? There's obviously a war going on in our neighbor to the south, but we have to sit back and play games in the middle east? How about someone focuses in on the troubles at home first?

I couldn't agree more SG. It is simply mind boggling how Mexico has stayed pretty much off the radar as far as National policy has gone over the years. They are our closest neighbor along with Canada and they are still in the grips of third world squalor. It's, of course, not our responsibility to fix all of their problems but we sure as hell have attempted to do that very thing all across the globe while Mexico sits there to our south and flounders. The drugs and sex slaves and gun issues are directly related to markets in this country, so it certainly is this countries concern. One thing that neither political party is willing to even discuss is the legalization of marijuana and other drugs. That alone would go a long way towards reducing the ridiculous amounts of money that fuels the entire trade in illicit activities. It would be hard to find a reasonable person who isn't aware that the so called 'war on drugs' has been and is an abysmal failure. The only explanation that I can come up with for the lack of courage, by both parties, on that issue is the equally vast amounts of money involved in the prison industrial complex in this country and the apparent strangle hold that the captains of that industry have on our political leaders.

Why won't they even discuss legalization of drugs ,because the bottom would fall out of the price of drugs and then they could not make any money off of it.There would also be a lot more lives saved by making it legal, and no more people would be doing drugs than there already are, same people. You could also taxes the hel* out of it and pay for George Bushes two unfunded wars and the rest of the national debt. There are thousands of good innocent people being killed now because of drugs being illegal,I had rather lose a few drugs addicts that are more than likely going to kill themselves anyway, seems to be a better idea to me.

I read somewhere that The Netherlands netted like 80 million bucks the first year marijuana was decriminalized there. And I'm sure there are quite a few more people in the US than in holland.

I've read that the pot industry in California alone surpasses $ in grapes to the tune of something like 4 billion $$/year. The prohibition is beyond absurd.

I think we should let the schools give pot out to our kids and not tell the parents. After all you guys want schools to give your kids abortions without your permission.
Why stop at pot, coke, crystal meth, bath salts ,crack or any other killer drug ought to be availabel to kids through the schools since they already do such a good job educating the kids and are so much smarter than the childrens parents. If you dope heads can have your drugs legally then why should people have to go to a doctor for medication that they really need. Self prescribe anything you want, Chemo Theraby, heart medications, anti biotics, and use any dosage you want why be scientific about it, it would be legal.
So you dopers want to legalize drugs and end the war on drugs and spend all the money on rehab which hardly ever works and send them back to a community that has legalized the drugs that tried to kill them to start with, makes a lot of sense to a liberal.
Wouldn't the world be a much happier place if we were all high all the time.
Why not legalize driving DUI, untill you hit another person you have not done anything wrong. OMG if the USA was only more progressive!!!
what a wonderful World it would be.

You are allowing your emotions to fuel your reaction. Think about it...

At least for me. If they legalized Marijuana I still wouldn't do it.

I also want to point out that you took it out of context, we are talking about Marijuana and coke not bath salts, meth, crack, etc. Since when does meth get snucked through the border from Mexico? That stuff is homemade. Welcome to the new century. Just like people in the 1900 thought alchol was bad, look at it now. They got rid of the Mafias and trafficking.
