Didn't you say that the main reason the postal service lost money each year was because congress passed some bill having to do with the funding of their pension?

The USPS was consumed up by emails and online banking and so on. Their big pension plans also don't help matters any. They will soon be History like Romeny is now.

It's the prefunding requirement (75 years worth) for the postal workers not born yet. It's the primary source of their "debt" and interest payments.

The current "debt" problems with the USPS are primarily due to the passage of that bill. However, there is a fundamental problem with the USPS business model that hinders them significantly in transforming their company to a 21st century provider of parcels.
