Yeah, and he will certainly overcome his homophobia among the bigots and rapists in prison.

Something other than prison si the answer for this one.

Everybody seen "Steel Toes" ?

Wow. Reminds me of American History X. I'll look for it when it's available.

I've seen a number of modern British films over the past 20 years, and a lot of times, I simply can't understand their English. So I almost never watch English films anymore because of that.

He'll have plenty of opportunity to learn what REAL homo-panic is like in prison!

Who cares about this piece of shit?! Wtf! He KILLED someone. Let's give him the death sentence and parade his body around from city to city so we can piss on his corpse, one gay at a time!

Because I don't believe that the state should be in the business of killing people outside of elf defense. For me, th test of my convictions is not to be vindictive to a person I despise.

Older British movies, or tv shows, before say 1990, I don't have a problem understanding. But many British movies or tv shows made after that I do.

I'm guessing it's because languages and accents are always evolving.

Here in New York I'm sure people don't speak the same way they did 50 years ago.

I was reading a book at Border's books one day, and it was a modern reprint of a book published about 1905. It was an account of criminal gangs in Manhattan at that time.

But I couldn't read the book more than a couple of chapters because there was so much I just counld't understand, because although it was written in American English, this was American English 100 years ago, and a lot of it I just couldn't understand simply because English was so different back then.

And I was born in Brooklyn 50 years ago !

Contemporary writing frequently attempts to speak in the language of the characters, as innovated by Samuel Clemens. It might be noted that writing is less aspirational than 100 years ago, following instead the fad for a French neo-pessimist "realism".
