Benefits of Shakespeare program
#1 Nov 27, 2009
The letter writer makes good points.
Why doesn't Shakespeare & Co. help the targeted schools to participate in the program by cutting back on the cost of that particpation.
This means S & Co. employees and administration need to cut costs dramatically (no pun intended) by biting the bullet and accepting salary cuts -- not layoffs, just cuts in salary and benefits.
There's no need to lay off anyone in a recession if everyone recognizes the reality that belt-tightening is an absolute necessity if the organization is to survive, and that strapped school systems can only afford to participate if the price of that participation comes down -- and fast.
