Various engineering enhancements are NOT mandated by red-light camera laws, such as 85th percentile speed limits, longer yellow times, decent length all-red intervals, vehicle sensors to keep an all-red, and countdown timers to show the time until the next color light appears. The state should also push for NOT ticketing the non-complete stops for a right turn on red and for stopping in the wrong place(like over the stop line.) Push for tickets to NOT be issued until a few seconds after the red occurs, too. Push for NOT ticketing people for ANY turns, as you need to slow down significantly and the light may change color by then(you could also get delayed or blocked by oncoming traffic, pedestrians, large trucks blocking your view, etc.) Even things like larger traffic signals, better arrow signs and pavement markings, etc. will help.
