"That failure opened our eyes to the fact that we cannot jeopardize road-and-bridge safety to build new train and bus lines."

The author fails to understand, or intentionally misrepresents, two critial things: 1) the state has fallen behind in maintaining our roads and bridges primarily because of the debt load MN/DOT was and still is paying on the BAPTA projects picked by Pawlenty five years ago. As the costs of these projects went up, money was taken out of the maintenance budget and away from other projects. And 2) The federal funds used to build rail transit and buy buses come from a pot of money that cannot be used for roadways. The state funds allocated to Hiawatha, Northstar and Central Corridor did not reduce the amount of money that would have been or will be spent on highways and bridges.

Then there is the one billion taxpayers dollars handed to non profits that manufacture nothing except more legislation and public give aways.

Fat, sassy, public funded non profits owe the people of this state more than their Minnesota whine.

"One of the greatest challenges in health-care reform is how to reward providers for their patients' health." No, one of the greatest challenges seems to be how to make health care -- not insurance, BTW, which isn't health care -- available and accessible to everyone.

I doubt that the so-called "improvement" in health care factored in the uninsured and underinsured Minnesotans.

This "new non profit" is made up of remenants of the 1992-94 appointed health care comission.
We should remember them well, the non profit health care commission members that created the new Minnesota health care monopoly, The commissioner of health was handed legislative authority by the 92-94 legislature and the "gang of seven" in 1992 state statutes 62 J (powers granted to the commissioner) to issue blanket anti trust exemptions to the non profit health care monopoly that could legally gobble up all of Minnesotas private health care providers.
In the first year 4,000 doctors refused to license in Minnesota the doctors that stayed are now sharecroppers for the monopoly.
Both political partys in Minnesota have a hands off the monopoly policy as Attorneys General Mike Hatch soon learned when he attempted to exercise his fiduciary duty to put some sunshine on the monopolies activity.
Competetion by private health care enteties is against Minnesota law.

A report from a 'non-profit' is de-facto Bad News.
In a free country, the government shouldn't be subsidizing the operations and propaganda of organizations that want to destroy a free society through socialism and collectivism.
Which is tyranny by government @ gunpoint.
I thought "liberals" were all pro-choicy.

Health Care and gov't are NOT to be joined, period. If our gov't takes on our healthcare we will surely see the great decline in quality of care. Name one thing gov't does well, besides tax and spend?
Transit: Great if you are one of the very few that can actually use mass transit, LRT. It is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Is it any wonder that the first stretch of LRT went to the mega mall and airports and then has a stop between Hennepin County Government Center and City Hall? Free rides galore since it's a "honor system". So much for honor, the LRT costs $21 million to run and collects $6 million. How's that for subsidizing employees of the airport/mega mall and local gov't? And you thought it would eliminate congestion? Nope, it causes more, costs more and it is touted as a savior for the St Paul to Mpls line as well. Dumber. Maybe the money that is already collected for road work should go there? Then we could rescind the new tax? Well we all know there isn't a chance in hell of any tax going away, there's too many fun places to spend, spend spend.
