And I have faith that barring any additional evidence, this man will be freed...but only after his father puts his house on the line or raids his 401k, and his name is in all the papers and all over the Internet...if he is guilty, yes he should go to prison! But prove it, or don't treat a possibly innocent man like he's guilty and force him into $30,000 to $50,000 debt to prove he isn't!

I just hate to see this get associated with the fraternities.....the boys may be stupid....but they're all not that stupid....why do we need to bring up his extracurriculars?
If you do NOT have the need for corrective lenses, your eyesight WOULD NOT be clearer, and thus your vision would be off greatly (having known this as my late Uncle was an award winning eye doctor.).

Furthermore, I guess you chase police cars for a living and were there at the scene???

Memory serves me right...the U.S. Constitution allows a person to be presumed innocent until proved guilty by a court of law, along with a fair trial (that means...not be tried in the newspapers, by a bunc of idiots...like you!)

Only if he gets a fair trial outside of Fitchburg. Some of these idiot posts, and their wild eyed theories are enough to cloud juries...

WHAT GRADE: Fitchburg State College, has a police force, that carries firearms. Also, most of the officers on FSC's Police Force, are Police Officers with neighboring communities.
Also, I guess if 100 people told you that the guy was innocent, you'd say he's guilty because his picture is in the paper coming out of a State Police Cruiser! Such intellect......with a 4th grade mentality!
Also, if the guy supposedly wore glasses, I would think it would have been rather hard for him to see without them. If he did NOT wear glasses, yet again...he wouldn't have made in the door!
So why don't we do EVERYONE a favor! You pay your taxes for a Police Department (and that has been a rather familiar debate in Fitchburg!), and State Taxes for a Court System. Let them do it. After all...the United States Constitution makes it CLEAR...a person is presumed innocent UNTIL proven guilty by a court of law!
i was not in any way talking about the police force on campus. Betsy D. said that "word around campus was that he was apprehended with a weapon" so how you took the whole police thing out of that i'll never know. you know how rumors can be, right? it starts off as a mild exaggeration and turns into such an outrageous lie that isn't in the least bit true. Betsy D. implied that that is how she heard it. she never said a thing about police and neither did i for that matter, so if you could READ my comments before you leap down my throat i would greatly appreciate it.

basically, i don't have any idea where this ferocity is coming from, because i really didn't say ANYTHING that you are talking to me about, so...yeah, just read my comments first, please :)

um...first off, i'm not sure if it was a typo or something, but that first line really doesn't make any sense. i'm sorry to hear about your uncle, but does HIM being an award winning eye doctor automatically make YOU an expert?

secondly, stop reading into other peoples comments. hmmm said absolutely NOTHING about following cop cars and being at the scene. where do you get this??? are you a mind reader???

finally, hey! "bunch of idiots like you" ...no need to be ferocious, seriously. what did we do to you? just chill, man. no need to be obnoxiously abrasive.

Sgt. Fossa said police served search warrants at Miss Stevensí campus town house and 31 Myrtle St., where Mr. Haney lives with his Sigma Pi fraternity brothers. Neither the black semiautomatic handgun used in the holdup nor the stolen cash was recovered, he said.--Worcester Telegram

Once again, you HEARD about it. Does that mean it happened? NO. Have you ever heard of rumors? Secondly, what makes you the mental health specialist? Who are you to say that he's "a wacko" ?

Fact: There was no bruins cap found at either the girlfriends house or the frat house. As usual from the Sentinel, incorrect reporting.

If you are so concerned perhaps you should focus on facts and not what "you have heard".

Injustice: Maybe I am wrong, but I think this is what happens in a city like Fitchburg. What you get is a citzenry, that see their city government a proverbial joke, close to bankruptcy, in tough economic times, and then when the S&E reports a crime like this, everyone in the city who lives in the area of this person, tries the alleged in the paper, and then the bottom line is that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Court System, has to pay 3 TIMES THAN USUAL to provide this guy a fair trial.

WHY? Well if you read these posts, with the name calling, and "I know this..and I know that" mentality, these idiots (and I do mean idiots), think that prospective jurors don't read this website, nor do they read the paper.

Maybe he is guilty, and then again not. But the man is afforded a trial by a court of law, by his peers (hopefully unswayed by the stupidity shown by others in this blog..), and considered innocent UNTIL proven guilty by a court of law.

This "Just because the paper shows the guy being thrown into a cruiser...he MUST BE GUILTY" mentality is equivalent to a bunch of third graders. Then when they try to rationalize their conspiracy theories, they are no better then a bunch of kindergarden kids in a sand box!"

HUH?

If you are sooooo hurt by what I said, then maybe you need some time with Dr. Phil. I didn't know I was being such a bully with intelligent content.

I guess the ignorance is bliss......and better to act stupid, and try the man in the newspaper? After all you are stupid...and you can try the man better than the courts do, and how dare we invoke any intelligent content as it will hurt your feelings..."

Being ferocious? So sorry to hurt your little feelings.

However, The man is INNOCENT until proven Guilty. Look at the other posts, especially from Betsy, and there saying that "Matt is a wacko?" How is the man going to get a fair trial. People read this paper. The SAME PEOPLE WHO GET PICKED TO BE ON A JURY?"

Also, if you read the article...NOTHING, I REPEAT NOTHING has been found. NO Bruins Cap, NO Gun, NO money, and even the man's lawyer states that HE DOESN'T EVEN WEAR GLASSES?

Yet, there are people, acting like they know more than the Police, the Court, the DA's Office, and the reporter for this paper, and would rather try him in court.

That is why I made the comment..."Were you following the Police Cars to the scene/Were you there" Also, the reader made a comment of wearing glasses since he was six years old. I have been wearing glasses since I was 12. Big freakin deal...that doesn't make any difference in this case (and rightfully so...with my reply to my uncle the eye doctor...so I like others..digress a tad..)

Then when this trial has to get moved out of the area, with all the garbage written, IT WILL COST the taxpayers of this state EVEN MORE money to give the guy a fair trial.

Granted I'm not a taxpayer in Massachusetts, but with all you people who cry foul about taxes down there...you'd think you'd have more brains than you are showing.

So you understand where I am comming from..I capitalized it for you..

"THE MAN IS AFFORDED A FAIR TRIAL BY THE CONSTITUTION. HE IS CONSIDERED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW"

I guess...that ignorance is bliss. How dare I come down on the less intelligent. No wonder Fitchburg is a mess.....

huh? ohhh no! that's not what i meant at all! haha, no i didn't mean anything about ME personally being offended by anything you said, trust me, it takes a lot more than that. what i meant was that you are getting so revved up and opinionated over something that NONE of us really have any control over at all. i believe that he's entitled to a fair trial as is everybody within this country, or even moreso the world. i don't think it should go off of feelings or fears of offending others either. all of the facts should be looked at, and, if it appears he's innocent, great he's innocent, if not, that's not good, but it's what the facts say.
and once again, something that we don't have any control over is something that is causing you to...sort of lash out, not that i'm offended, mind you, but it's really not something to get worked up over if, in the end, we aren't sitting on the jury.

haha, see? lashing out, it's really no reason to get worked up, because we personally can't do a thing. and i didn't exactly call for a session of belittling, Dr. Phil. haha jk!

look, i'm not saying that the juries decision should be influenced by...anything really, so by disregarding your personal evidence, i wasn't trying to...really do anything. i was just trying to stay unbiased.

and i totally understand your point, and the capitalizing did really help cuz you sort of have a tendency to digress...but thanks for the capitals, and i'm really not being sarcastic! it helped me see where you were exactly coming from, and i totally agree with you =]

Oddly enough up in Biddeford, ME they had a similar bank robbery with a guy with a Yellow Boston Bruins Cap wearing dark glasses. I didn't know that the spoked B meant bank robbery!

It's a hell of a way to win a Stanley Cup! Heck, rob the Montreal Canadiens. After all, they beat us in 7 games!
