Heavens to Betsy! Does that mean that in the future two thirds of Charlottesville adults will have to work instead of subsisting on public asistance?

Hey city council, do a survey abd talk to the career bums that congregate at the metal tables underneath the Pavilion tent.

if they're overly abused, or have exceeded their usefulness... Agreed; in fact, shouldn't that be their goal?

WOW! I cannot believe that this country has gone so far down the Socialist path that "The slowdown is causing concern because the gap between people who fund social programs and the elderly who depend on them is growing.", is the first - and only concern when the decrease in births is discussed!!!
WOW!
How about the population alarmist rejoicing that America will not be stealing the world's resources?!? How about WOW, our leadership for the last decade (or more!)has ruin this country! How about WOW! Maybe PEOPLE NEED TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES!!!!!!!
How about WOW, less children to shoulder the HUMONGOUS DEBT (6 TRILLION MORE in the LAST 4 YEARS!) we are saddling on our children and grandchildren!

How about people work longer, like future generations will have to? People are living longer...there is no reason a healthy person should retire at age 65 and be funded for two decades or more by a younger generation. SS is a ponzi scheme that is/was destined to fail at some point, as all ponzi schemes do.

Obama care will see that seniors won't receive the health care that they need and will start to die off. Longevity will start to decrease. The government will not let go of SS, it won't be able to give up the control. No worries be happy Daddy Bama will take care of us.

A smaller population for the future sounds like a good thing to me. Having babies parents can't afford has helped paint the US into this financial corner. I am 100% for abortion, it's cheaper than society having to foot the bill for irresponsible persons bad decisions and actions.

The article is grossly misleading as far as numbers. Immigration alone has more than made up for any birth rate decline. Immigration will also sustain present population number increases. I don't much care about the immigration issue, its been going on all over the world for 100,000 yrs, its a natural procession of mankind, some times natural and sometime unnatural stimuli. But there's no such thing as 0 population growth, with a population of 300 million the rate may very somewhat but not enough to make any real difference to social agendas. The real worry, when the numbers progress to a geometric rate, then you got a problem.

They are they in plain sight for you to talk to. The city gave them special aluminum tables to sit and drink at since shoppers on the downtown mall got tired of putting up with them. Go see for yourself!!! Saturday and Sunday mornings always produce a good crowd.

All persons should be reversibly sterilized at birth. Only when they can prove moral, social, and finacial responsibilty will their genetic code be "unlocked."

Stupid takers outbreeding productive citizens will trainwreck this country faster than you think.

The bottom of the gene pool is inevitably the most prolific and the trend will only continue. The government is already desperate for money to the point of trying to find out if an American has even a hundred dollars or so in an overseas bank account---the liberal votes have to be fed. Although it's only a trickle now there is a trend of dual citizens renouncing their US citizenship and going back home so as to let folks like the Charlottesville City Council feed their loyal voters----one of the founders of Facebook just left the US and moved to Singapore.

Problem is we warehouse our dead heads for their entire lives. I have never seen a place where so many people in their twenties and thirties get a disability check every month and free Medicare health care (not to mention free housing) all because they consumed so much alcohol and drugs that they qualified for a free ride for the rest of their lives that everybody else has to pay for. A helping hand for maybe a few months is okay but not a taxpayer funded RETIREMENT. The crunch point is coming.
