Dee Dee Bellson, Daughter of Pearl Bailey, Passes Away

A Charlottesville jazz singer who sang for herself and as back-up for acts including the Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow and Sheena Easton has died.

By the way Billy....I am so sorry to have heard about Uncle Billy's passing as well. I know that Grandma Virgie, Aunt Dick, Uncle Louie, Uncle Billy, Tony, & Dee Dee are all together smiling down on the rest of us wishing that we knew they were doing just fine!!

This is Aunt Phyllis from Temple Hills, Maryland. I'm so sorry to hear the sad news and it has affected all of the family hear in the Washington, DC area deeply.
Funeral Arrangements are for: the wake on Monday, and the funeral will be on Tuesday at the Hill & Wood Funeral Parlor, 1st & Market Streets, Charlottesville, VA. I hope someonw has a picture of her. Hope this info helps. Love you all, and God bless all.

Truly sorry about great the loss. I met Dee Dee Bellson briefly at Louie Bellson's funeral. I worked with Louie Bellson as a singer and he would mention her name periodically. She also sang for a dear friend of mine on many of his musical projects and he loved working with her. What a shock to lose her so young.

When Aunt Doris called me on Monday morning about Dee Dee, I was in a state of shock. She had such a sweet and wonderful personality. By the way she died on her dad's birthday. This is soooooooo overwhelming.
Now the whole family is up in heaven rejoicing together with the rest of the Bailey's, Aunt Virgie, Aunt Eura and Billy also.

What comes to my memory is when Aunt Dick was in Hello Dolly. The show was in Philadelphia and after the run of the play, she had a party for Tony and Dee Dee and all of the cousins in Philly. It was soooooooooo wonderful and awesome. I can still hear her and Tony laughing.
