This concept of a "stand alone ER" has been around for several years in NOVA (INOVA), the Hampton Roads (Sentara & Bon Secours), and in Richmond (HCA & Bon Secours). It benefits patients and localities north of Charlottesville in that patients can receive emergency care quicker. Any patient who has sustained traumatic injury, stroke, heart attack, or sick children will not be taken there by ambulance unless there are extenuating circumstances such as airway issues. They will either go to Pantops or UVa. Having this facility there also offers a quick turn-around for agencies to return to their respective locality in order to answer the next call without having to fight 29 and bypass traffic. Many of my colleagues who transport from Orange, Madison, and Greene welcome this facility and would like to wish MJH Freestanding ED much success!

My understanding is that pie-hole is a variant on aforementioned cake-hole, which is derived from the 1950's British vulgarity cakehold. We may also want to consider chops, gob, kisser, mug, mouth, trap, yap, muzzle, gullet, and maw. Now aren't these way more fun than the SAT top vocabulary list?

Yes, it is great to have an "ER" up North of Town. Someone at MJH is a Marketing genius!!!
It is like an ambulance chaser lawyer. Think about it....Anyone living North of RIO road might head up to the new "ER", certainly the Madison/Green Co. folks will. Once in the new "ER", lets say for chest pain, you will have to be "stablized" and moved to a real HOSPITAL...hummmmm, bet the volunteer ambulance that may have dropped you off at the new "ER" is long gone. So now you get to use a medical transport (fee) to betaken to MJH...which now is a FOR PROFFIT HOSPITAL (I think)....anyway, BRILLIAN BUSINESS MOVE on MJH part!
I saw their commercial touting the new ED. Sitting in the ambulance bay is an ambulance from MedicalTransport. I recently found out that Medical Transport is owned by Sentara, so now the circle is complete. Sentara will treat you on Proffit road, then a Sentara company will transport you to the Pantops Sentara facility. Because they will convince your volunteer rescue squad to drop at the Proffit road facility, and you should have been taken to the main hospital will add $1000's to your bill because Medical Transport will be the exclusive transport from Proffit road.
