why would anal sex with a willing partner, male or female, be a crime- or anyone's business? It is irrelevant, and if the charge is false, it's probably exactly the kind of disrespectful converstation it was designed to inspire. I know the man, and I believe in my heart that he is not capable of sexual violence of any kind. I'm happy to let the facts come out in court and have him punished if found guilty, but I think it's a shame that if he is found innocent his reputation is forever hurt. As a victim of sexual violence, I believe that false accusations do a lot of harm to future victims, and I think the possibility should be taken seriously and we should withhold judgement until the facts work thier way through court.
Laura, this is Virginia - this is the state where not only is it illegal to have sex with the lights on, one may not have sex in any position other than missionary.
Where booze is sold only in state run stores, and never on Sunday's.
Between those two, I wonder why anyone would want to move here.

You mean legally only sold in state run stores, every local knows there is a shine black market. Also, some stores do sell it on Sundays.

ABC stores across the state have slowly been transitioning to opening on Sundays over the past several years so you may want to check your facts. You should also clarify "booze" for obvious reasons that liquor is what is sold in state run store.

luckily, the Supreme Court overturned some of those laws a few years ago :)

anyway, there needs to be a rape shield law for men. the identities of men accused of rape should be kept confidential, and only released if he is convicted in court.

All arrests, IMHO, should be confidential. An accusation in the press is a defacto guilty conviction. Rarely are those that are convicted in the press and public exonerated to the extent of the damage done.

It seems the alleged victim waited 2 weeks to file charges. This makes it likely that there is no physical evidence. I predict he will be found not guilty, but some people will always have thier doubts, and his career will suffer as a result. I know him personally and have a very difficult time believing that he would do something like that. A real shame all around.
I'm not saying he's innocent or guilty. But friends usually have trouble believing their friend can ever commit any horrible crime. Look at children who murder their parents. Everyone always says they can't believe it, but it does happen. Good people do horrible things.

The only problem with that law is sometimes the evidence is deemed not fit for trail because the police took it before the offender had his rights read. Then you are releasing a person back into an unknowing public where he can simply attack again. Sex offenders are almost always repeat offenders. Rarely do they see the light and walk the straight line. It's horrible, I agree, but if it could help protect your daughter or wife I know you would agree.

Cynthia Neff obviously did not get the "negative" attention she was looking for while running an extremely unpleasant (and I'm being nice) campaign against Ken Boyd. Maybe Chris Dumler is her last friend left in town. Really, Cynthia ...

If he is not guilty then I do agree why mess up someones life like that. On the other hand if he is guilty than look what he has done to the victims life. Being sexually abused is a pain you carrie for the rest of your life not something soap and water can ever wash off.

yeah i know chris. that doesn't matter. too many people are saying he's not guilty simply because they KNOW him. This what we know, he's charged with felony forced sodomy. No trial...not even the hearing yet! no evidence presented yet. People KNOW he's guilty, people KNOW he's innocent. Truth is, no one knows if he did it or not except 2 people. The fact that the alledged victim waited two weeks is not strange. Most victims are so damaged they never come forward. sexual violence isn't credit card fraud.
No one knows anything. NO ONE. Me included.

The charge is 'forceable' not 'willing'. One does not have to commit violence to commit a crime and to spend time in prison.
Talk to the innocent victims of the crooked local government and ask about their reputations and talk to the victims of violence who have been victims of prosecutors who refuse to file charges against those who are in fact very violent.

Dumler NEEDS to RESIGN period!!! Whether he is guilty or not makes no difference. He has, by his own hand or not by his own hand, made the "trust" he is empowered with worthless. Dumler needs to leave his position and the County's population to another person.

Nothing I said was wrong. I'm just saying the whole thing is suspicious. I also said what others may be thinking , although I wasn't politically correct - I never am, and never will be. If found guilty he may very well end up on the receiving end of forcable sodomy.

Maybe your problem is either you have pebbles in your head or have been chowing down on Fruity Pebbles for so long you can't see the obvious.

There are many reasons that people wait or don't report a sexual assault at all, so the two week period should not be an issue. If you have never been a victim, then don't comment on the time period. I know nothing about this man(other than knowing he is a County Supervisor) so I will leave it up to the court system to decide. As someone mentioned above, yes, his case should be treated no differently than anyone else accused of the same crime. If that means moving the case to another jurisdiction, then so be it.

What do we really know about his background? Virtually nothing. Does he have family? Nver saw them during the election. He does not own property in Albemarle County. He recently moved out of the Town of Scottsville. He has never hung a "shingle" for his law practice - thus not sure how he get clients. We do know he is an investor in beer brewery in Scottsville and serves on their board.

Yeah, right. It only becomes "rape" two weeks later when a girl finds out I am married with children and want nothing else to do with her. She's upset to learn she was nothing more than a one night stand, and she isn't getting the world I promised her two weeks prior to her sudden allegation against me. She wil use the rape allegtion to get back at me and my family. People abuse the criminal justice system in this country every day of the week.

If the victim had been a male the entire DNC would have posted the pervert's bail.
