Well, missing a lot of national chains is probably why we made this list. Instead of having the option of going to high-volume, popular restaurants, we having smaller, more niche restaurants. And anytime you want some comfort food, slip on by Wayside.

Would love to see more quality instead of quantity.

So many restaurants, so little good food. This just goes to prove that there is an arse for every seat.

I've eaten lots at all the places on my list, but I'm in terrific shape for my age. One can appreciate great flavor without being a glutton. Realize that is rarer in the south, where nobody walks anywhere and a nascar driver who sits on his butt is considered an "athlete." Sure could go for a good chiliburger right now, but won't find that around here, coz we don't have that "national chain" Tommy's, which actually exists only at the intersection of Beverly and Rampart. Would settle for a sammy from Macado's, but that "chain," too, sadly vamoosed from C'ville several years ago, leaving us as one of the few college towns in Va w/out one.

A severe case of quantity over quality. The award wasn't for having GOOD restaurants - just for having a lot of them.

And I won't dine on the Downtown Mall to save my life. Literally.

Add to that list Shoney's, Cheesecake Factory, and O'Charley's...but I agree the most glaring omission is Olive Garden.

That's absurd. You really can't find something you like among C&O, Christian's, Marco & Luca's, Eppie's, Five Guys, Whiskey Jar, Brookville, etc.? I've had great meals at all of those places something for any budget or palate.

Yeah, lots of mom an pop restraunts, but nothing I actually want to to go. Where are all of the popular restraunts? Oh yeah! We have to go to Richmond! What a joke!

You can't seriously think of those chain restaurants as a place to get great food. Most of their food is pre cooked and frozen. You can get that at your grocery store. The problem we have here is there are so many excellent restaurants it hard to choose.
