Wow. Enough already. Find some new material to report. VA ABC is working on changes, the charges have been dropped and I'm sure some sleazy lawyer will talk Daly into filing suit. No one cares about the Rutherford Institute has to say as a non-involved party. I'm sure to them everything is a civil rights violation.

No--they protect individual's civil rights. They represent individuals free of charge. Their funds come from membership fees and donations. They don't have the funds to go after the government.

Comparing law enforcment officers to "wolves" is typical of the hyperbole expressed by the Rutherford Institute. He makes me sick to my stomach.

"Imagine a pack of wolves attacking someone".

Okay, let's.

I don't recall anybody seeing dismembered bodies in front of Harris Teeter.

Time for Whitehead and Rutherford to go to Alaska and prove their point..........

Evidence is what gets presented in court. Reasonable suspicion, also known as probable cause is what a cop is paid to look for. Two different things.

I suspect that this was a training exercise where the new agents keyed in on the wrong minivan for a field traing exercise and I base this on the fact that I have never seen this many ABC employees in one place at one time. If I am right, and I say if, the training officer on site needs to be disciplined for his or her bungling. Even fresh graduates of a third rate police academy should know not to get in front of or behind a targeted vehicle. Everything about this smacks of new employees stumbling over each other.

I agree with Everclear . Scarily enough, I almost agree with the Rutherford Institute. I can't believe I just said that. Shudder.......

Fight on, Mr. Whitehead. I wish you Godspeed. The Constitution is apparently not something which many people (especially in Charlottesville)care about anymore. Someday they'll wonder where their Constitutional rights went, but it will be too late.

This was alarming but mistakes can happen. There are good cops and bad cops. She should never have spent the night in the clink.

What I find outrageous is the fact that the Commonwealth Attorneys Office in Cville NEVER prosecutes UVA student rapists. It's one big UVA coverup. Considering the stats it is impossible that there's never enough evidence. This is not a mistake or an error but a deliberate policy. The conflicts between local law enforcement and UVA are an outrage.

The wolves reference is a comparison to Nazi Germany. Which may not be far off considering how these carpet bagging led departments are running amok

of any of the changes that the ABC board is considering - I would hope that the FIRST one would be to be able to distinguish alcoholic products with NON-alcoholic products. I believe that this would be a wonderful place to start.

I work in the wine business and really believe that ABC should become WAY more proactive than reactive. Rather than responding to a crime, maybe an educational program for employees that sell alcohol as to what to look for, how to prevent underage sales and some signage for point of sale? Instead of spending a lot of money on "raids" that involve the possible use of a firearm, I would like to see my tax dollars spent on a thorough educational program for seller of alcohol.
Much like the program the health department has for food handlers. I feel underage drinking is as serious as proper food handling.

Why isn't anybody complaining about the Charlottesville magistrate's office? They are the ones responsible for sending this girl to jail that night. They made that decision. Not the cops or abc agents. I think we can all agree that these particular abc agents totally overreacted in this case, made a lot of big mistakes and judgement errors. And they should be held responsible for what they did. But they aren't the ones who put this girl in jail. I'd like to see the magistrate held accountable and try to justify his/her decision to lock this girl up. Someone look into that, please.
