Matthew, grab a snickers bar cause "you aren't going anywhere for a while". In fact, grab some soap on a rope cause you'll need that too.

Props to the police (and 911 dispatcher!) for such a quick apprehension. The girl did a great job fighting back and still keeping calm enough to get a good description of the attacker and vehicle he was driving! You go girl!

Stop walking the d*mn streets by yourself. There are to many pervs driving and walking around waiting for an easy target. Young lady I am so glad you got away and was able to call 911 but PLEASE use better judgement next time.

This could have been another Morgan Harrington. There's a pretty good chance he would have killed the girl after he did his dirty deeds. He needs to remain in jail with NO BOND! Nip this sexual predator in the bud, no bond and maximum sentence imposed at trial.

The porn sites were getting old - gotta find a real womwan; what an idiot. This lunatic needs to serve bubba for a good 10 years.
Excellent response and tactics by victim;
however a gun may have drastically changed either outcome.
Thankful

Good job fighting the sicko off! A few scrapes and bruises are way better than what could have happened.

What the heck? We should hand over the streets to criminals? We shouldn't feel safe to walk around our town?

I'm sorry but I refuse to blame the girl here. I thought we stopped blaming women for being attacked decades ago.

If you think it's too dangerous for young women to walk alone, don't tell them they should be in before dark with the doors locked. Start lobbying your representatives for CCTV, especially around university grounds, and more police.

Don't think anybody is "blaming" the girl, just simply stating that they shouldn't walk alone at nite. Its reality. Your comment would be fine if this were a perfect world, but its not

This whole story sounds fishy to me. Who drives around snatching UVA students? Who wants them?

not blaming her but have sense enough not to walk alone at night and put yourself in harms way- its not like Grounds isnt known to have crime issues at night. im a big guy who can take care of himself and id have second thoughts walking alone there at night. wolves are out there..dont be the prey.
props to her for fighting back and getting him caught. im sure he wasnt thinking that was going to happen.

I'm sorry, but 'wow' wrote that the girl should "use better judgment next time". She was saying that the girl's poor judgment led her to be there which led to her being attacked.

The girl is the victim here. She should not be sitting at home blaming herself for what happened, cursing her judgment.

People need to be careful with their language and remember the only person who did anything wrong was the guy that attempted the abduction.

No, that's exactly what's going on. Pretty soon we'll be asking women to dress in burqas because men can't contain themselves. It's not just happening in the Islamic Middle East, it's happening in Israel:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-424...
It's happening in the UK:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-36926...
it's happened in Florida, though they've changed the laws to prohibit clothing from being evidence in wake of the injustice:
http://www.nytimes.com/1990/06/03/us/nature-o...
and in Texas:
http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/pulp/2011/0...

and I quote:
"There was an article about an 11 year old girl who was gangraped in Texas by 18 young men because she was dressed up like a 21-year-old prostitute."

Fix him, yes, like that, and then have him serve about forty years. I'd concede or plea down to twenty if the libs raise hell, but definitely castrate him. The next attempt could be successful, and it could be from someone that watches this creep get two years probation and decides it worth the chance.

It does not sound as if you've figured out much! It's too bad that we can't all be out and safe at any time, but that is the reality of the world and to ignore that reality seems really foolish. Punishing these perps for their actions has not proved to be a deterent nor does it remove the trauma of the attack....you live with that forever. Prevention is worth a pound of cure.
