I've read previous comments and it seems many think this is a fine upstanding man. He very well may be, but with him being a Palmyra resident, I hope the judge inquires as to why he needed a room for a few days in order to attend a party in Charlottesville.

This is beginning to sound really bad. Who needs a hotel for a few days to attend a party?

a lot of people rent rooms in chville . that doesnt seem strange plus sometimes if people are drinking or tired after partying they dont want to drive. He has a seizure disorder . he probably dont even remember renting the room. check for a brain tumor..

I'm aware of quite a few folks who deal with varying degrees of seizures, This is a bogus excuse to say the least. Not even close to a valid excuse for criminal behavioe.

Seizure made him do it...hmmmm, I have diabetes....I think I will go rob a store and blame it on that. Renting a room for a "few days" because he was going to a party. This story worries me and I am starting to think those parents better than their lucky stars!

Ok for grins and giggles let's just say he was going to drink at a party and didn't want to drive afterwards. Wouldn't he be sober enough to drive by the next day? Why rent the room for a "few" days? And why wouldn't his lawyer just go ahead and tell the judge that he didn't remember. I say give the man the benefit of doubt but seizure or brain tumor or what something needs to be done to assure this will not happen again. Kudos to the judge for wanting some kind of proof before just letting him back out on the streets for this to possibly happen again.

The hotel is suspicious enough but never and I mean never have I seen a seizure disorder used as a defense to commit a criminal act. Certainly if this fine upstanding man can work for 25 years at UVA without any problems from the seizures I find it hard to believe the "seizure made him do this".

The hotel room is not looking good. Even though I agree that it could be bad timing, because people do get hotels for various reasons, But the same weekend you scoop up someone's child...doesn't look good. The seizures I have seen haven't made someone pick up a child that isn't theirs. Nice guy or not....things don't add up. At least he didn't get away for us to find out his plan. The little girl is safe and the rest will get sorted out.

Room rented for a couple days and grabbing 2 yo children .

Why yes, this sounds like classic symptoms of a seizure disorder .

C-ville has become prime hunting grounds for predators.

Booked a room? how about call a cab when you are going to party?
Premeditation comes to mind here, I bet they will find a checklist
of things he needed to bring to the party.

1) Little Girl
2) Rope
3) Shovel

This does not sound like his first rodeo.Never let this monster out
of jail, never, ever or he will try again!!!

Good like with the jury trial and all the fun your fixin to have in jail.

A man who wanted a 2 year old is not likely to also be interested in a 20 year old but you never know. I'm sure they'll check his DNA .

They are probably trying to pass this off as temporal lobe epilepsy, which is different than the convulsions that most people think of when they hear the word seizures.
Check out
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_lobe_ep...

They can involve altered consciousness, staring, hallucinations, inability to interact with the environment, out of body or psychic sensations, or a whole lot of other weird behaviors. It is somewhat controversial in medicine, probably overdiagnosed. But it is probably a perfect defense, if they can get a medical expert to verify it.

Then how does he have a drivers license ? He may or may not have seizures, but grabbing someone's kid is a lot different then forgetting who he was on a field. How you blank out that bad and work as a supervisor at UVa is interesting, I mean it doesn't take rocket science to lead at UVA but to have a disease that you forget who you are and then pick up someone's kid the weekend you have a hotel, might be bad timing, but looks really bad.

WOW wonder how he made 25 years as a uva employee if he did not what he was doing half the time. 2 year old little girl. I just celebrated my 2 year old great-grand daughters Birthday yesterday. If he ever tried that with her I would kill him myself and he would not have to worry about bond. His judge would be Jesus Christ!
