Why is Cynthia Neff DUI news? I bet lots of DUI's occur monthly - works both ways sparky
Itís because Cynthia Neff is actually a politician, and a community leader... though some have disputed that here.
.
I feel bad for the kids today, back in my day it would have been a night in the can called PC'd (personnel custody) and a $50 fine (which was half a weeks pay)

How come another UVA student spends the night in jail over bottled water?
When you are arrested for public intoxicated you are released on your own recognizance after you sober up in a few hours. A bond hearing can't be done until you are sober.

Cynthia Neff puts herself in the limelight by being a party activist and running for office, so therefore it's news. She was an IBM exec before she retired and she put up her house to bail out an elected official who was jailed for crimes against women. She is high profile, so what she does gets noticed. Plus--she was driving a vehicle, a danger to everyone on the road.

The Gov's son is a college student doing what college students do in this age of everything goes. His only claim to fame is being the Gov's son and he ate some of the food from his parents home.

Its a class 4 misdemeanor with a 25.00 dollar fine and court costs(civil penalty and can be prepaid). It will just assert his standing as a true member of the venerable UVA alumnus once he graduates. I am sure that his picture in Crime Times will hurt his father worse than anything that will ever come out of this arrest. The dumbest thing he can do is hire a lawyer to fight this charge, just a huge waste of money and more free press that his dad does not need.

It is bad for McDonnell. May it be the end. He knows every move is scrutinized, whether it is his, his close contacts or his family. Au revoir...

Claiming a double standard in the media exists (Palin/Bachman) based on your personal assumption that the media will forget about this story once the current "scandal" surrounding his father wraps up? Really? EVERY media outlet in the State? Guessing reality will never step foot in your home! This is news and will be followed throughout the entire process. Might want to let someone else paint the fence, Huck, fumes are getting to you.

I have to laugh at the double standard ~ giving the Gov the benefit of the doubt and excusing all behavior. If this were Obama (or Michelle and their daughters)~ watch out world!! No excuses and total condemnation. Or for that matter, any democrat! I'm an Independent, by the way! Just very observant of partisan behavior.
Are you freaking kidding me? It's the Democrats who always get the pass by the media! The ONLY reason this is news is because of all the attention Gov. McDonnell has already been getting and the media were only to happy to pile more on.

Not really a personal matter if a publicly funded officer of the law makes the arrest now is it?

Personal matters aired in public become a matter of the public
