Is it me or do we seem to have a disproportionate amount of porn offenders for our community?

I can't believe they let her out on bond. There should be a city for just offenders to live in with electric fence around it.Casterate and let them offend each other. Not to be sexist, so give complete hystorectomy's to the women so that no children come from their perversness. It just sickens me!!! God help the person to ever look at one of my children wrong.I will go to jail that day.

I have asked this same question in the recent past. It seems like another one pops up every week or so. I guess we should just be glad they are being caught.

When you live in a liberal town, you get liberal lifestyles. These people believe that they have a right to do the perverse things they do. They have found a safe haven here in C'ville/Albemarle.
The really bad thing is this: When you or I catch them in the act of harming one of our children and tear them limb from limb for their crime, we go to jail for a hate crime.

this is some drummed up BS charges... if anyone has ever used peer to peer sharing then you would know that sometimes things you don't mean to download automatically end up on your PC... let's hear what she has to say before we go jumping to conclusions... sometimes people are used as the "fall guy", so that the PD can look like they're doing something. if you're wondering why her bail was so low, maybe it could have something to do with the fact that these charges are, once again BULLLLLLLL!

Yes, sometimes things end up on your computer that you didn't necessarily want there, but this is different.

With a peer-to-peer network, things don't just "end up" on your PC. You must initiate the download yourself. You can unknowingly "seed" certain files without your knowledge if you have "Share Folders" options enabled in most P2P clients, though.

If she posessed those videos, chances are she purposefully downloaded them. A tactic used to catch people downloading illegal content via P2P networks is to record the IP address of the offender. This is easy _IF_ the feds are the ones "seeding" the file, since it maps the IP addresses of everyone downloading the file. Since P2P offers no default proxy (which most P2P users don't use), this crime is easily found.

Of course, it could all be an elaborate trojan that downloads a P2P network and downloads child pornography, but how would the feds have found out? And more importantly, why would it download child pornography if it could have just as easily downloaded MORE viruses?

We may never know until this trial is in court, but I doubt this is an "accident".

Irregardless of the matter, most Peer-To-Peer clients are used most often _IN_ the download of illegal content, as it's tracing methods are a bit more obfuscated. Well, that and files download faster through file parts, instead of a sequential "whole".

well, i believe in innocent until proven guilty. i wasn't aware of the fact that was a "liberal" point of view... in fact, unless those being screened to be jurors felt the same way as "lisa" - my real name by the way, and i actually live in c'ville, then they would be tainted, and couldn't be a juror in this case in the first place... that's how our judicial system is supposed to work... justice will be served, but not because of people like "OhNo5-O" ... everyone does and should get their day in court...

I'm glad you have faith in the legal process. That is reassuring and comforting. You are right... she should have her day in court and if she doesn't plead guilty before she will definitely have her day as well as additional counts to answer to. This girl was caught red-handed with a lot more than just a few mis-titled-accidentally-downlo aded files and will soon be another face on the sex offender registry. I too am a lifelong resident of Albemarle County... regardless of where my ISP places me, damn satellite internet. There definitely seems to be a lot of sickos in our area. The police have just recently been able to become more pro-active in pursuing this type of crime and the public is in shock as to the recent exposure. Stay tuned I'm sure there will be more. These people have a sick disease.

Are the police monitoring internet traffic? Or, was this part of a sting?

If she was using peer-to-peer file sharing. It can happen. The software adds your PC to the list of PCs that are sharing files and just about anyone running the same software can upload and download files to your PC. So, before you start looking for a rope and tree to string her up. Let this work it's through the system. If she knows she is guilty, it would be foolish of her to not take a plea. If she is innocent, one would hope the DA would drop the charges. But, if the DA wants to make an example of her. She will not fair well by a jury, unless she can prove that she did not do the download. Which is a long shot at best.

What makes you people so blindly believe what police say? Just because they've arrested someone doesn't mean that person has done anything wrong. They probably have a stash of that garbage somewhere that they put on a persons computer when they want that person locked up.

If they can get in on your computer and find these things out then how safe is doing anything on line is like paying bills with your bank account on line and things in between you and someone else? They want you to use the e-mail and internet to make money off of it but if they can find information and no ones when they are doing this then what can hackers do to your bank account. As far as this lady then if she did this and proven guilty then put her behind bars so she will get what's coming to her but if she isn't then hacking on her files is real wrong and the whole world had better watch out for hackers to come. If they want to stop this all they need to do is take SEX off of TV AND OUT OF MOVIE THEATERS. And they need to take it off of computers also because if they can do it on the computers and TV then why do they have more rights then anyone else. It's like the old saying MONEY TALKS and they are making a killing on this kind of stuff. It should all be out lawed and get reaid of this stuff once and for all. It's time to stop it and starting with movies and tapes and DVD'S rented out of stores and on TV and Movies will be the right place to start.

What makes this even scarier is that until recently (when it was learned that she was being investigated for these charges) she worked at a local child daycare center. Let's hope none of those children were involved.

WHAT???
this has nothing to do with sex on tv & movies in theaters & movies to rent. WHEN DO YOU EVER SEE CHILD PORNOGRAPHY on TV or for sale or rent in the stores or theaters? GET REAL! this woman is sick! and she has a child who is at RISK! She is perverted & should be locked up permanently. The next thing we hear, she'll be "rehabilitated" and working in a school or a day care...She's disgusting! period!

The thing is she has a 6 year old son and a 8mth old son. She is married and yes she works at a local daycare for the past 4 years.

I went to school with this girl and was good friends with her for a while. It is hard to accept that she is guilty of something like this. But at the same time it concerns me because she was around my daughter and other children.
