Backlash against Leaked Clips of Cuccinelli's Book

Full story: NBC29 Charlottesville

A few unauthorized clips from the book, "The Last Line of Defense," leaked to a few media outlets Wednesday, and it didn't take long for Democrats to come out against the Republican gubernatorial candidate's words.

So where's the "public backlash" the headline mentions? The only thing presented in the article is the reaction of a few democrat politicians(just one, actually) to a few quotes from a book that hasn't even been released yet. I'd call that politics as usual, not a "public backlash".

yes, where is the public backlash referenced in the headline? one democrat is mentioned in the article - that's all. Looks like shoddy and sensationalistic journalism to me

Well...some people _are_ dependent on government. The question is, when is it justified and when is it unnecessary.

It isn't "public backlash", it's merely Democrat partisan comments! What a crock this article is--there is no way on Earth it qualifies as journalism.

Good question...I agree. It is obviously justified for those who are not mentally or physically capable for taking care of themselves, as it is as a stop-gap for folks that just lost their jobs (6-9 months should be enough time). I'd even say programs that provide basic nutrition and basic medical care are good too.

The line I draw is where folks have more incentive to live off the government/taxpayer than to make a better life for themselves. That imbalance will lead to an unsustainable system that brings everybody down. Also, if you look at the biggest disasters, it's those that depend on the gov't that suffer the most, in large part because they have left themselves with nowhere to go, but to the gov't, which often can't respond to the need quick enough.

I don't care for the guy overall but agree on his entitlement comment...some people do seek out ways to load their tummies at the government feeding troughs. There are way too many of those troughs!

Not that we shouldn't crack down on the abusers, but personally I would rather more resources going to those swindling billions rather than pennies.

in China you get put to death for political corruption, in the USA you get to start think tanks called first principles, dancing with stars, and become a political consultant that is paid millions to spread birther conspiracies. Crime pays,, but only if you go big

I certainly agree that cherry picking excerpts can distort the meaning of someone's writing. Let the book stand on its own merits after it comes out.

I want to read the part about his relationship with the Seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia. I heard that there might be nudity in that chapter.
