When will people learn?

My prayers go out to the family of the "pedestrian" and most importantly, the crew of the train.

Laying on the tracks?? If he survives, I think a trespassing charge should be prepared.

What if he was put there by someone? Or had a heart attack?
Why do people always jump to conclusions before knowing the whole story?????

Get real. A very specific subspecies inhabits the brushy areas along the rail lines around here---and there are more than a few thousand of them that haven't been accounted for by the city's bogus bum census. However, quite a few of them have made the cut for the sex offender registry on the Virginia state police website as well as circuit and district court websites. The referenced Keswick fatality occurred at one of the smaller bum hives out in the county behind Luck Stone on Route 250 on that rail line. Those that live along the rail lines have no illusions about what they see crossing the tracks on a daily basis as they make their way to town to enjoy the benefits that now draw people from across the nation.

Time for cameras along the entire rail line so the commuting felons can get credit for what they do around here.

If he was put there by someone he was probably already dead. But it appears he didn't leave in a body bag. If he had a heart attack then what was he doing on the track in the first place? I've been out here a long time, and I've hit a few. Everyone of them was either trespassing in some form (blatant disregard for the railroad, or high and didn't care, or drunk and didn't care), or they were a victim of a violent crime and their body placed on the tracks as a cover up. But it has mostly been trespassers.

Their own families can't trust them around the kids anymore and that's why many are living in the woods near railroad tracks that help them move fast when they want to evade the clutches of the law. Others will never be hired by any sane employer due to the violent, often horrible crimes they have committed.

Give generously to the man with the sad face and the cardboard sign at Freebridge, Pantops or Rivanna Ridge.

These could be the future mass shooters doing the right thing and ending it early. If that is the case, thank you for trying. Come again.

That is a mistake. Yes these people have special issues. But this city and state provide more free programs for them than one could imagine. Free food, free shelter, free medical care, free transportation, free cell phones, free get-out-of-jail card when they disregard our laws, free waiver of all fines and court costs imposed, and a legion of government workers at their disposal to make sure they can find all these freebies. That is why the railroad tracks have become a highway for so many like the man with the cardboard sign. They are drawn to this magnet for the dregs of society.

Trust me. That money that you "give generously" will be used to purchase the only things that they are not already receiving for free. Alcohol, drugs, tobacco and lottery tickets.

They should outlaw trains because it has caused nothing but grief recently.

I say someone needs to come up with more "Train Control" laws!!

A few yrs ago we thought we were helping 4 people that were tenting behind Sams Club. We had seen them often and we needed help at our property. The sign had written on it " will work for food" so we figured we could help. We took them to our home and then they popped the question 'how much will we get" meaning money. We ourselves had been very down on our luck but are now doing much better so we figured we would "Pay it Forward".......WRONG!!!!! ! We were told that they make about 140 to 200 EACH panhandling and .. get this.... an HOUR.. at the Sams / Walmart light. They told us they would not help, this is after we brought them 15 mile to our property. We were shocked to say the least and took them promptly in the truck and kicked them out right at the intersection of Sams. It angered us that so many people make it impossible for people in Real need.

Trains bring almost EVERY dry good to your stores. Anything that is imported comes to relay centers by train from shipyards. So no train = products arriving at a snails pace and costing many times more because trucks will need to bring the items all around the country. New cars even travel by rail. Trains are the most cost efficient vehicle out there I cant believe you even suggested more train laws or bans. Less than 300 people are reported killed each year by trains yes vehicles are hit by trains but figure this. the train does NOT swerve or jump out in front of ANYTHING. it is rolling on a.. fixed ..track. Point is, keep out of IT'S way I guess we ban cars, planes, boats. More people die each DAY from these.

And that tax free money that they scam from all those gullible good samaritans is never reported as income, so they can keep all those aforementioned freebies that your hard earned tax dollars provide for them. I wish people would wake up. Benjamin Franklin told us that the best way to reduce poverty was to not make it so comfortable.
