I've met Mr. Farabaugh and I know his students love him. I hope he does great on Jeopardy!

I think it's great for him to be going to Jeopardy. And for you guys who think it's a waste of your tax money, look at what else we have to send our taxes to. So, just stop, Please.

What a great representative of MHS and Albemarle County schools!

I first met Michael when I contacted him out of the blue, based on someone else's recommendation, and asked if he'd consider giving a chemistry demo to my son's Cub Scout pack. He readily agreed, despite having no connection to the pack, and was terrific. It was over a year ago and my son still talks about it.

The next time I saw Michael, he was working a concession stand at JPJ, as part of a fundraiser to support his daughter's school choir. I was able to speak with him for a bit, and marveled at his passions for chemistry and for teaching. He struck me as being the type of teacher who can have a lifelong positive impact on his students.

Good luck Michael!

I had Mr. Farabaugh for chemistry in the 10th grade. He's a really cool guy and a great teacher. It's not everyday people have the chance to be on national television for something as cool as this so to all the people that are giving him and the school crap for "wasting your tax dollars", just calm the f*** down okay? You're just jealous because you're not smart enough to be on Jeopardy! XP Congratulations Mr. Farabaugh and I wish you the best of luck!

My husband is in his 12th year of teaching and he rarely uses a sick or personal day, so he has accrued quite a few of them. If he ever makes it on Jeopardy to supplement his $40,000 a year income, I would hope that the administration would support him.

I am shocked by the vitriole in this thread. People are always saying they want TV stations to report some GOOD news, not just crimes and traffic accidents. Here is some genuinely good news about a very nice person, and people are posting hateful things. Way to be classy, Charlottesville.

We had a one person on this thread who was using 8 different usernames to post inflammatory comments and then argue with themselves and others. The person has been banned.

While most of us appreciate your actions, do we really want to give that one person more ammunition to complain?...ie censorship. They only embarass themselves with their foolishness. I for one am entertained by them.

Trollers in C-ville? Hard to believe! My husband corrected me to say this is his 14th year teaching. He got out his earnings statement from 14 years ago, and he is grossing $70 (yes seventy) more per year than he did when he came from another county in VA. Jeopardy would be a great idea!
