That $19,000 salary comes out to $9.13 an hour if they worked a 40 hour week. That is not too bad for a part time job given they work a lot less than 40 hours a week for 52 weeks a year. I suggest rather than give them a raise the state negotiate a special rate with a hotel that those would stay in to reduce the cost and find a catering firm that would provide meals for them at a reasonable rate. I might have a different opinion if they were actually accomplishing things instead of spending time fixing ways to get more money out of the state budget for their own pockets. There are more pressing issues other than how much they get allocated to eat and sleep while in town "doing their job".

I, as a state employee votes NO. We did not recieve the 3rd step part of a raise, because there wasn't the funds. No Cost of Living raise for a couple of yrs, because again, no money. But yet, they want a per diem raise, which averages out to about $4,000 a month. WTF???

I THINK IT IS LUNACY. WHERE IS OUR COST OF LIVING INCREASE? WE SHOULD TRY TO GET THEM TO LIVE ON MINIMUM WAGE WITH NO HEALTH INSURANCE. I AM IN THE HEATH BUSINESS AND BELIEVE ME, IF YOU'RE NOT KNOCKED-UP OR MEXICAN, YOU'RE NOT GETTING INSURANCE. WHY SHOULD THEY GET REWARDED FOR THAT!!! IT'S BULLS_IT!!!!!!!

Let the voters that voted them into office, vote to see if they get a raise. I haven't had a raise on my job in over 2 years...so why should they get one? I say...LET THE VOTERS OF TN DECIDE!

I think getting a raise is just another slap in tax payers face. Let them feel the pinch just like all of us.

I'm sure none of them have to worry about the winter months ahead and wheather they will be able to pay that heat bill. They have no ideal how to live as a average joe.
