Claremont needs a new high school, not a reconditioned, rebuilt, added on nightmare of a school. If you're gonna spend that kind of money on rebulding what you've got, why not spend the extra, and have a new school built. Cost savings alone for upkeep will help pay for the school in the next 25 years or so. And pellets for heat? Give me a stinking break. Anyone figured out how much they will cost to heat all these schools? I use pellets at home and its expensive. It's good for the environment, but its still a lot of work and you don't get the btu's from it that you would from a wood boiler. Not that I would recommend a wood boiler either. You can't leave a pellet or wood boiler alone for say a weekend or vacation period, someone has to monitor it daily. Is the cost of a 24 hr maintenance man been put into the equation? How about a storage facility to house the pellets? I'm sure we're talking about bulk storage, but still, its going to take a huge storage area and a worker to truck these pellets to each school. And cleaning of the boilers.....that's going to be a nightmare in itself.
