CENSUS: Cecil County Women-Smarter but Poorer? A Cecil County women are better educated than men in the county but they earn significantly less money from their jobs than less-educated men, according to new three-year data issued this week by the U.S. Census Bureau.

This is a very interesting census. I believe it very much. Many women in Cecil County are very educated, smart, and know more then most.

We all know the answer to why they get less money then the less educated men in Cecil County. They are all connected. It would be a true miracle to see women stand up to this. At least in my lifetime.

This article really opened my eyes! I have a college degree, but I cannot find a decent paying job even by commuting a long time to Delaware. It seems that if area employers know you are from Cecil County, they know you have very few options and they can pay you less than men.

I was glad, but also very sad, to read this article. But at least I know I am not alone. I guess the only way to get a better salary is to work for the federal government, where the article said is where you can get equal pay as a woman with men!

As much as we can say it is discrimination, just because we live in Cecil County, you have to stay firm. There is no doubt the job market in Cecil is not a professional one. We have no choice but to work outside of the county. And even if Cecil is stated on the resume, oh well. This is where we live. I work in Baltimore, and making a change to Philly. We live smack in the middle of both cities.

A friend of mine did a little survey of her own a few months back with changing careers and trying to get work in Cecil. Even the people that interviewed her, she could run circles around, yet as we all know....the money was never there.

This could start a good networking group?

A networking group would be great for working women in cecil county. Most professional women like myself that live in Cecil County have no choice but to work in Baltimore or Philly due to lack of companies in the area.

Sure, I could work in Cecil County and get paid $32,000 for what I do, or I could go to Philly and make $80,000. Maybe the Economic Development Council could make the County more attractive to companies and they would come to the county.

Women working in Cecil County? Lucky if anyone has ever found a fair paying job in Cecil county. Goes with the territory and way of life. No one wants big business in the county, including me.

Keep driving as I have done for 30 years to higher paying jobs, and come home to a decent life style.
