Cause and causality! Most addicts "deal" to support a habit. When I was using, I sold hundreds of thousands dollars worth of dope to support my habit. As any addict will confirm, when seeing people walking down the street, that addict will fantasize about being clean, and how lucky the person is not to be strung out.

This girl needs treatment. Education means nothing! Opiate addiction is brutal. It left this single parent missing his significant other, and a child missing her mother. Now, I weep.

Out there? Where exactly is "out there?" Because she isn't from Sissonville. Never has been, never will be. She was a druggie before she ever even thought about doing the show. The rest of the cast members don't do any type of drugs. She was always strung out on something on the show. The rest of them just drink and have a good time. Do get your story straight.

No. It is apparent that she is an addict. Do you support the incarceration of cancer patients, too? Of course, not. Folks, addiction is a disease. And, your ignorance, nor your stupidity, will change that!

Drug addiction is self-induced, brought on by breaking the law. She does need too be incarcerated for selling and or possesion of illegal drugs! Addicts playing the victim saying it's a disease are weak-minded !

While I agree that people need to have consequences for there actions I also know that addiction really is a disease. People smoke knowing it can cause cancer its the same as taking a pill knowing it may cause addiction. I feel bad for both because nobody thinks it can happen to them.

,,,,They’re screaming it from the rooftops:“addiction is a disease, and you can’t stop it without medical treatment”! But why are they screaming it so loud, why are they browbeating us about it, why is it always mentioned with a qualifier? You don’t hear people constantly referring to cancer as “the disease of cancer”– it’s just “cancer”, because it’s obvious that cancer is a disease, it’s been conclusively proven that the symptoms of cancer can’t be directly stopped with mere choices – therefore no qualifier is needed. On the other hand, addiction to drugs and alcohol is not obviously a disease, and to call it such we must either overlook the major gaps in the disease argument, or we must completely redefine the term “disease”.
Not giving you a sign either
But call it what it is
A choice!

Exactly! Drug addiction is now called a disease so ppl can qualify for ssi , it's pathetic! Play the victim , don't accept responsibility for your actions ,let others take care of you ,it's the name of the game anymore!
Opioid is not a disase

Charleston, WV

If opioid addiction is a disease that would mean cigarette smoking/ nicotene addiction is a disease. That sounds ridiculous. It is surely 10 times harder to quit smoking cigarettes than it is to stop ingesting opioids, whatever the avenue of delivery to the bloodstream is for the user. If you want to stop, stop. Salwa decided not to stop, probably because she figures her Daddy will come to her rescue again with his money to keep her out of trouble. Wonder how the payments on that second mortgage on his house are feeling now that she is right back in jail for not abiding by the terms of her initial release? What an idiot. She needs to rot in jail for selling what she was - and there's no better rehab than sitting in a jail cell.

Addiction is the disease and opioid addiction as well as some others actually change the way the brain functions. You can actually see the difference in the brain scan. Also the physical dependence on opioids is very painful and nothing like trying to quit smoking.
