I have an appointment with him in a couple of weeks and I've never heard anything about him (which can be a good thing) but I'm really scared about this appointment and would like to know if anyone has seen him before and if you think he is a good doctor? Please dont start putting anything negative on here about him if you think he isn't a good doctor just say no! Thanks!!

I've never heard of him myself. I go to Dr. Manni and Hannah at Kanawha Urology. If you don't mind me asking what kind of problems are you having? I might be able to give you an idea of what to expect.

I have had UG problems for a long, long time. I have never heard of you are asking about but I didn't like Manni and Hannah or their office staff!!! I go to Dr Cyrus Mali now and couldn't be happier with him.

I like manni and Hannah but wonder about them. I've had small stones in my kidney for over a year and they say there is nothing they can do about it. Now I wonder since you've said you didn't like them. What exactly didn't you like if you don't mind me asking?

that is what I don't like. they seem to be in it to see as many patients as possible and make the most money with the smallest amount of work...I know that's the society we live in but stones hurt. plus Hannah admitted because I had a very large obstructing stone and his office woman called me to schedule the surgery and was really mean when I told her he had admitted me. it wasn't my fault they didn't communicate. of the last 4 appointments I had 3 got rescheduled and his office staff was never nice about it...the doctor bumped me to do a surgery 2 times and one time was going out of town. I never cancelled or rescheduled.

If his first name is "Ryan", then he is a physician's assistant and not a doctor. According to the WV Board of medicine, he has not had any disclipinary action filed against him and he has no malpractice cases filed against him.

Fitzwater is a Doctor, not a PA. When you first meet him he sounds like he's straight from the backwoods but I will tell you he may be one of the smartest guys around. You haven't heard of him because he is relatively new, only been out of residency maybe a year but he knows his stuff. Other than Dr. Deem, he is probably the only one in that group that seems to care about his patients...just food for thought.

My mom says he is the best urologist in town! He def knows what he is doing. He became her doctor in January, and kept her from losing her kidney. He is very intelligent and treats you like family.( not only him but his entire office staff is wonderful)

I seen him for kidney stones and a cyst on my kidney. He seems to be a great doctor and his staff is wonderful! He was concerned about everything wrong with me not just the kidney stones and he's doing everything possible to get me help with everything! I completely recommend this doctor!!!

My best advice is to stay away from Fitzwater. His office staff is wonderful, an Dr Fitzwater is a very intelligent man, but I feel he doesn't care about his patients. He is all about overbooking, seeing as many patients a possible and getting them in and out as soon as possible. I have renal stone disease and had to see him every 3 months for about a year (before I finally found a new urologist. In that time, I never sit in the waiting room less than 1.5-2 hrs waiting to be seen. I was in the ER 3 times within 6 weeks passing stones and all the ER docs told me that I needed seen ASAP by my urologist. Called and called and finally 3 weeks after my initial call, got the message from his nurse that he said unless there was a blockage, he didn't want to do more surgeries. He thinks that unless a stone is actively passing there is no pain, that may be true if you have 1 stone in your kidney, but when you have 30+ stones inside each kidney, I promise the kidney spasms are hell. Crippling. I broke down in tears with him a few times begging him for surgery. He is very arrogant, intelligence is great, but a doctor must also be empathetic and have a desire to help their patients. Bc he refused surgeries over and over, I ended up with many ER visits and 2 times being admitted for emergency surgery! Fitzwater took Dr. Davalos place, and I wish Davalos would have never. He was a great doctor. Fitzwater has A LOT of learning to do to be considered a great doctor. There is a reason he has a 1 out of 5 (very poor) score on Health Grades. Be careful. I recommend Dr. Sankari or Dr Mali for the Charleston area. Both good Urologists.

I have when Fitzwater. Stay away from him. He did surgery on me and put in a stent in each kidney. He taped the ends of the stents to the inside of my thighs and told me to have my husband pull them out in a week!!!!! That was the most painful experience of my life. I will never see him again. Stay away

That's proper medical treatment you damn moron! Don't dog a doctor for proper technique just because it sucks balls.. I have male friends who have to have the same thing done.. Luckily when dr Fitzwater did my surgery he had to place the stents too high to be pulled out.. But in any event he is not a quack.. One of the best

I have heard he is good. I see Lorhi in the same practice. They do overbook it's always a long wait and they don't really spend a lot of time with their patients. But as far as urologist go I have seen a few bad ones he doesn't seem to be a bad one but I can't spend a lot of money on treatments so I got the feeling my well being was not of much importance to Lorhi. Good luck.

Dr. Fitzwater is my doctor. He has been nothing but the best with me. I have been in his office twice and I have never had to wait over 10 minutes. He is very professional and has taken care of my problem. This included surgery and a stent. I would recommend him to anyone.
