firefirefighters sick

I hope the firefighters make a speedy recovery with their sudden illness that caused the department to shut down a station!!!! That will show the city one of two things. How much they need you or how the city was with the closure of another station!

They are the biggest bunch of cry babies I have ever witnessed. Thank God for volunteer firemen.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Blue flu When they're trying to shutdown stations. Stupid bunch of hose staggers!

Everyone should read the consultants report. That will tell you exactly how bad the administration is and has been for the last 25 years.

Unfortunately this is typical ofthe the IAFF

Sad thing is the city didn't pay their part toward the pension for the past many many years... The firemen still paid their part... Hmmmm whose fault is it. Ol dollar Danny was one of the causes when he merged charleston ems and fire. He allowed people to retire when they had their time instead of making them stay a few years to assist the funding of their part of the pension.
That study says the ambulance crews are overworked and the city will not put on another ambulance from what I understand. They lied to the entirety of the west side and north charleston. They took the fourth man off the engine there. They told us they would always be four firemen there and an ambulance when they closed the two stations and made one. They yell about the firemen working overtime and even after they closed a station and took the fourth man they are still 10 positions short. And Moulgard is complaining about people off on military leave. Firemen that are and have been overseas. They pick what they want from that report and try to pick which laws they want to follow when it is convenient for them. I believe if I were one of them I would have a lawyer. Sadly enough... No matter how much they are punished because moulgard has a hard on for them the engines still go out on their calls.... That station was open today. No stations were shut down for the shift. It was staffed I went by and the bay door was open.

Sadly what's gonna have to happen is a lot of people are going to have to get hurt or even worse die before anyone takes notice. I am a friend of many of the CFD and I can say I feel for all of them because they are risking their lives daily for the citizens of Charleston and the City wants to downsize to save a buck at the risk of their lives and the lives of the citizens of Charleston. Very sad.

Yeah sadly that is true. You think a small city with more council men (and women) than the city of Los Angeles could manage things better... Wait maybe the city of Charleston needs 5 councilmen....

How about we take a close look at the budget & show the public where all the money is going. Losing millions on the civic center and municipal auditorium each year, big donations to the Clay Center, big projects such as a new riverfront park & green space at the transit mall, thousands on a pretty new clock on city hall, big raises for dept heads, and the list goes on..... Its funny that after 8 yrs of Mayor Jones & Molgarrd they are just now saying that the fire dept makes to much, has to many stations, needs an appointed chief, has a costly pension, etc. So what has changed, oh yea, they got their first black chief. Is the city looking at the police department who falls under the same pension system and who has a vast amount of OT? No, and what race is their appointed chief? Oh yea, he's white. I hate to make this a race issue but there are alot of facts that just dont make sense, and its pointing to one conclusion that the city doesnt want to come out......

it takes an idiot like you to try to make this a "volunteer vs professional firefighter" thing, a large portion of CFD is also volunteers and these guys are great brothers on and off the job, so good try bud.

Hey Julio has a good point they didn't magically find this problem and start coming down hard till the chief took over. Yet the mayor and his crony are still lying to the council members and creating a hostile work environment for all under them....

Riiight cause you never see the Vollys washing their cars at the station. Know they do it at mine and the others in Kanawha county all the time! Go back to Sissonville or Cabin Creek and set your fire

Last I checked 75% of the stations run calls for 12 hours of the 24 a majority of the time.
