Food/Beverages

Buy a Cup Of Joe for $2. We'll deliver it with your own letter of
thanks to one of our Troops overseas. Click to learn more:
www.greenbeanscoffee.com/coj

Each Cup of Joe is valued at $2. Therefore, every $2
contribution provides a Cup of Joe to a different Service Member.
For example, if you contribute $10 to Cup of Joe, you will send
a COJ to five different Troops. Each Troop will also receive the
letter you write and additionally, we'll give each of them a way
to write back to you.

Bag Of Joe For A Joe is a NEW way for people everywhere to
say thanks to our deployed Troops and let them know they’re
appreciated by purchasing a bag of freshly roasted coffee and
having it delivered into the hands of a Soldier, Sailor, Airman,
Marine or Coast Guardsman who is serving on the front lines in
Afghanistan where conditions are harsh, unforgiving and
extremely dangerous.

The recipients of your Bag of Joe gifts are located in uninhabited
areas of Afghanistan and do not have access to a Green Beans
café. We’ve partnered with deployed Chaplains who are
embedded with our Troops in these remote places to deliver
your Bag of Joe gifts.

Each Bag of Joe purchase also includes 3 Cup of Joe gifts that
will be randomly distributed to Troops who serve at bases
overseas where we have a Green Beans café. You get to include
a letter to your Cup of Joe recipients and we’ll give them a way
to write back to you.

Ok I know there are a tons of other things and charities you can donate time to or gifts, these are the ones that are on my list as well as Salvation Army! I truely believe NO ONE deserves to go without anytime, however Christmas is such a special time of year and even though I know as well as my child, that Christmas isn't about presents, it's about family! However kids do not fully undertand that as mine doesn't fully, it's still the excitement of seeing those little glowing faces on the morning of Christmas, of knowing Santa was there!! So please help in anyway you can and I by far am not saying using one of the above charities! Also I am hoping to be able to go to Womens and Childrens this year with crowns and tiaras for all the sick kids that have to spend what could be their last Christmas in the hospital!! I am also looking for Christmas stuffed animals or any donations as I have being in touch with CAMC and will know the age groups we are looking at, but I feel you are never to old for stuffed animals or to feel like a princess or prince!! If you would like to help with this please contact me at [email protected] with the subject CAMC so I can weed out spam!! Thanks for going over all of this and I hope everyone can help in someway this year, also don't forget serving Christmas dinner to those less fortunate!!

Giving money and donated gifts to charities is for suckers. In my opinion 75% of the money is stolen right off top 10% is wasted 10% can't be accounted for and the other 5% may go to the cause. In my heart I really do believe that.

Now as far as clothes and furniture and other items the cream of the crop never makes it to the needy, because it is carted off by the people picking it up or the ones sorting thru it etc.

As I said charities is for suckers unless you are doing it for the write off then most will donate a 50.00 item and claim it was 250.00.

I know what i'm saying I have seen it first hand.

Coffee for solidiers! How ridiculous.

Cash for the scam artists is more like it.

I am sorry you have had such a bad experience with charities but they are not all like that! This is the reason I posted these! I truely know they go what their for! But this is your choice and your opinion however I do suggest looking at the info around allegations! Thanks

The way I look at it is if it makes me feel better for trying to help, then I won't go to hell for that... When I see people, especially people with signs claiming to be veterans, I can't help but think about my brother, a vietnam veteran who is no longer here. I give to them freely, it makes me feel good and if they are scamming me, then shame on them--not shame on me. I agree that a lot of so-called charities are not in it for the "cause", but rather they do, indeed, line their own pockets or whatever. I always ask when some store check-out asks me for a donation, I ask "how much of my donation will actually go to this cause?" I don't think you would be on topix about this if you weren't sincere. You know that you are setting yourself up for a lot of negativity, but I for one will most definitely be emailing you. How will this stuffed animal, crown/tiara purchase be done, and how will I get the money or the items to you? I also might just give you some money for the coffee for soldiers as you have already done it and I am married and really don't desire the emails of thanks, etc. Not meaning to sound mean, I just am very busy and wouldn't want the influx of emails. I do think it is a great idea, however. I'm sure the soldiers do appreciate it very much and it's a very small thing to do, considering all they do for us. I will email you this evening, I promise.

Thank You I look foward to your email and you can buy the stuffed animals and other gifts including stockings at the dollar tree and I will have a pick up place or you can drop them off at my home! Also you don't get bombarded by emails from our troops and I do not do it for the credit I do it because as you said it's such a small thing to do, that gives them the comforts of home for all they do for this country! If someone writes a thank you letter I turn it back around quickly as to praise them for serving our country! With some of the troops they truly need and want someone to talk to back home as they don't have anyone. Also not every troop gives you their email address back so you just get a thank you from them and that's all, I have talked to some wonderful ppl thru this program, however if you would like me to do it please buy a pre paid card for the amount you would like to give and I will do it for you, if it's the emails you don't want feel free to use mine! Otherwise I would have to send you a confrimation email showing that your money went to where it was suppose to go! Thanks so much for your help and as with the tiaras and crowns I am working hard on that I have pageant friends that I am sure have some extras ones laying around with sashes the crowns may be a little harder but I am writing the sites online that have them to see if they will donate anything! So I just cross my fingers and hope if not then I will buy them out right as I want this to be a huge success!! Again ty

for some reason her friend wanted me to comment on this post. i thought why, whats the point. then i read your post so i decided to comment like they wanted.

i agree with you 100%...if you want to donate anything, dont go through a middle man. donate your money, items and time directly to the charity!!! there are so many things that can be done we dont people on topix telling us where to go or go through them. besides, if you really wanted to donate, you should be doing this all year long, not just aroung the christmas holiday season.

Jodi,, I guess your trying to tell everyone that jenn is not doin this for a good reason? I think it's pathetic that more people don't think like her but more pathetic that more people think like you, when you lay down at night are you scared that tomorrow might not come? And you such A lonely woman that you have to cause trouble? I personally do not know jenn but I think what she is doing is a great thing, and I say thumbs up for everyone that helps her,, I know I'm goin to,, I hope if you do have kids that they never get sick like some of the kids in the hospitals, but for you to try to discourage people from helping her is really just about as low as you can go!! Hope you sleep well and you have a merry Christmas !!!!

i guess you cant read very well...as i stated one of her freinds,on another post, asked why havnt i commented on this post, so i did.

also, as i stated if you want to donate to a charity, there is no need to go through a middle man and dont do it just at christmas. there are all kinds of charities that can use the help all year long.

also, why would you give stuff to some random person posting on topix? instead donate directly to the hospitals, the fire department, the salvation army..ect.

if i posted my email address on here and said give me stuff and i will donate on your behalf, would you? i sure wouldnt.

Jodi if you actually read the posts then there are direct links to every charity so I am far from the middle person, I merely suggested a few I donate to and if someone wanted to donate to them that's great!! There's a couple there that I am sure a lot of people didn't even know about and they are not just Christmas charities they are everyday charities! I know no friend of mine would have sent you here to read this as none would talk to you for the rude things you have said, but that's not the point here as I said everything has a link and they are to the direct charity! Also as I said on another board you are more welcome to email companies for donations for the sick children at the hospital, or come by and help stuff 30 stockings and wrap their lil gifts, or maybe you would like to go with me and some others to the hospital and help out, Jodi do you know what it is like to have a child tell their parents at 5 yrs old that "it is ok that they are dying and not to be sad that they will wait for them in Heaven but until then they will watch over them!!" I do and it is one of the most heartbreaking things you will ever hear, do you realize this is not where these children want to be on Christmas, or that this may be their last Christmas? I hope you think about these things because I have worked there in nothing but peds for 6 months in Oncology and let me tell you something it takes a damn special person to work in that field and I made the cut for 6 months before I couldn't do it anymore, as much as I cared and as much as I didn't want to leave I personally could not handle it and I will tell anyone that! For every ten ppl we helped there was one we couldn't and that one tore my heart apart! So please before you judge me and assume I am keeping anything that is donated to these children, know me, know who I am, know the compassion I have and the love! Note what I don't get for these babies I will be paying for myself so I am sorry I will be damned if I let anyone say or assume that I am doing any wrong in wanting to help people, I have did it all my life and I will not stop! As for someone posting charities on Topix I think it's great to see something positive go on here instead of the bs negativity that ppl live their lives by now! I am sorry to anyone who is offended by this yes I cursed it happens especially when all I am doing is trying to give great memories to children that may not otherwise have them!! Shame on anyone who assumes I would keep anything as I have stated anyone who wants to help please email me I will send hard copies of the emails I am sending to you to send out, you can come over and help wrap and stuff stockings, you can find a few ppl to sing Christmas songs not only in the peds unit but the whole hospital, you can find a Santa which I already have so x that! How about you buy some Christmas cards sign them all from Santa but don't put names on them as I will do that when the day comes! Ppl never cease to amaze me! I guess if I would ask for blankets, socks & coats used or not to hand out to the homeless I am going to keep them also ugh sorry I am just a lil upset, that ppl can't do good for anyone anymore because of all the negativity in this world!! I am just going to end this and continue to make a difference in others lifes while the negative ppl set at home and greed over what gifts they got and how much they cost!

You can send a card or letter to the Walter Reed Medical Center year round and you can donate on a cup of joe for a joe anytime I have being doing it since July!! I am not saying give me anything I am saying give the children something and again as I have said everyone who donates or anyone at all are more than welcome to help out without donating anything but time!! Stop being so negative, there are ppl that still care about others in the world! I am not going to the hospital and giving one child a gift I have made it a full event and have stayed in close contact with CAMC to make sure everything I am having donated or buying is ok to be on the floor! Hopefully you realize what your saying before you lay your head down tonight because it is not only hurtful but uncalled for!! I will not argue with you nor anyone else as I am not making anyone donate anything or help with anything I am asking and for the ones that do God Bless you! For the ones that don't please donate to a charity of your choice and read what I have said before making assumptions!!

No, one of her "friends" did no such thing. I don't know her, so I couldn't be her friend. I simply wonder why you speak so poorly of her yet she is doing a nice thing and you ignore it. You said yourself, you posted here because someone else questioned her sincerity or "honesty", which you jumped all over because it's an opinion which you agree with. I agree with the person above, you must be one miserable human being. No one is handing over money to anyone on here, but if we did it would be none of your business, just as it is none of my business if you don't donate or choose to help the kids at Women and Children's hospital. I happen to know someone who is there every day and I trust that whatever I donate will indeed go towards these children, no matter who is behind the idea of making this a special Christmas for those kids in the hospital. I don't think anyone on here is trying to force others to do whatever they don't feel comfortable doing. You said yourself that you will give to whatever charity you choose, and that is commendable of you. Just don't try to influence others on here with your negativity towards someone you have issues with to not give to children at our local hospitals, for goodness sake. We are all capable of reading and making our own decisions, right? You also mentioned that people should give all the time, not just at Christmas. What made you think we don't give all year long? You seem to jump to a lot of conclusions based on nothing. I hope people realize that the person who started this post was simply making suggestions for us to do something good for our soldiers, sick children, or whatever cause we choose to help. I never saw anyone ask for money at all. She even mentioned going to the dollar tree for heavens sake, and buying stuffed animals, coloring books, crayons, books, and to email her for details. I'm sure she's a really big scammer wanting a bunch of cheap stuffed animals and coloring books... LOL Shame on you for trying to make her look bad for doing something charitable.
