for a 1 or 2 yr old, reinforce the good behavior and ignore the bad behavior. for a kid old enough (3 or so amd up) make sure to tell them what theyve done wrong, why its wrong, and give a fair warning, and if they blow their chance to NOT do it again, bust their ass. if they know you mean what you say and you follow through, you wont need to do it very many times.
thats whats wrong with a lot of kids these days. kids get only positive reinforcement and no negative deterrent at all. parents are doormats that wont nut up amd make their kid mind. if the kid is being a mean, disrespectful little shit repeatedly then jerk a damn knot in his or her bratty ass and move on. seriously.

I agree with all of these responses!!
If your kid is 4 or 5 when you decide it's time to start disciplining them, it's far too late.

Be a good example for you Children from day one. You as parents are the best teacher they will ever have. If you want good kids, then be good parents. "You do not have to jerk knots in children if you are leading by example" They will follow your foot steps!

You must not have kids. Toddlers making pushing buttons & testing limits a life's goal.
