I would love to hear it. It sounds like we did a lot of the same things.

I remember the bridge getting blown up and the circular levy that they built in the river so they could drain the water and set the foundation for the new bridges.

I've also been through every inch of the capital and the Cultural Center. They used to leave all the doors unlocked and it was a great adventure to go exploring.

We even found a cat walk that rums above the lights in the main entrance of the Cultural Center...that was pretty hairy way up there.

Like you said, times were different...In high school I had sex with my girlfriend in one of the side hall ways that run off the senate chamber, we used to party inside the Cultural Center and at Holly Grove.

We'd play football at the capital or have pick up games at the governors mansion with Jays kids and the State Police after they put in the BB court.

It was great growing up on the east end as a kid.

Did you know any Joslins? Tracy was a year or so younger than me but I think he had an older brother that should've been about your age.

Yes I know Skip, Mark, Scott, Tracy and Carol very well. And their parents names were Billie and Skinno. Ricky is 1 year older than me.
I'll get to the story in a bit, but did you know the name Scriptunas and McClung?

P.S.

The story I will tell involves a Joslin. It's pretty damned funny! And yes" those doors in the Capital were hardly ever locked. And I can tell you something about the cultural center also. No I did not have sex their, but then again I may have and just forgot.

There was a kid that went to Piedmont that lived at the foot of the bridge named Kenny Collins. He would be about 50 now. Lost track of him sometime in the 70's.

I did do the math and I knew the answer in advance, but in today's economy, give me the 10 Mil now, cause I do not know whats going to happen with inflation and the market in 30 days. So I will gladly take my 10Mil up front. Good concept though!

I know a little about the market and I know a little about this and that and I would still take the penny a day. Even with 10 milliom dollars up front I don't think I could turn it into as much in 30 days as the other way, but I have been known to be wrong.

Kenny lives and works in Las Vegas now. He is a Limo Driver / part time cook. From what I heard he is doing very well. And No I amnot a McClung, but I know the entire family. Jack, Joe, Tommy, Jimmy, Tina, Cindy, Aimee and Martha. Those Catholics sure didn't believe in birth control.

I'll get to the State Capital story in just a bit. But first I need to grab me a bite and take pee.

P.S.

I saw Kenny Collins about a year ago and he was a pretty big fella. Probably 270lbs or more.

Ok here goes the State Capital story. Depending on who you are you may have taken part in this.

If you'll recall back in the early to mid 70's the soap dispensers in the mens and (yes) ladies rooms at the State Capital were on top of the sinks and would unscrew from the bottom so they could be refilled with soap to wash your hands. The tops were plastic and were shaped like a baseball. Well one, or two, maybe three of those darn East End kids would unscrew those things and pee inside them and then put them back together. The employees would come in and do their thing and then unknowingly wash their hands in a 50/50 mixture of urine and soap. That went on for many years.

I even think some of the youngsters from the next batch of East End hoodlums did the same. Now I never did it mind you, but those darn McClungs, Joslins, Collins and a few others sure did.

BTW: My name is.....

Have a great weekend!

We used to call them the McClones (I'm sure you know why). As for Kenny, I'm glad to hear he's doing well. I think he got into some trouble years ago. Back in the day, we were both banging the same girl at the same time. Never any issue between us from it, I don't know if he even knew about me...I found out years later that he was tappin' that too. As kids we were always cool.

On second thought, there was one time that I was at her house and somebody came over starting some shit, not sure if it was him or not. My memory is trashed and I can't remember a lot of the details.

I won't throw their names out on a site like this but there were two other girls from that side of the capital that I messed with. One had red hair and freckles and the other lived in that row of apartments at the corner of Washington and Veazy streets. They were a year or two younger than I was.

That's great...wish I'd thought of that. I know exactly the soap dispensers that you're talking about.

The stories could go on and on...thanks for walk down memory lane.

You're welcome!

I swam in the river so may times you wouldn't believe, threw snowballs at cars, walked across that catwalk underneath the 35th street bridge many times and.....well the list is too numerous to mention. I did things that I should have gotten into trouble for and if a kid would do them today would get into trouble with all the cameras and security now a days.

You are right the East End of Charleston was a great place for a city fella to grow up. I have great memories.

Now I can't recall the names either, and if I did I wouldn't say on here, but I too knew a girl or two from Veazey street and even down by the bridge. There were two sisters that lived right next to the bridge and if my memory serves me correctly (and it does) those two brunettes were the bomb!

P.S.
My memory is pretty foggy also. I have had some fun in my day and with that type of fun there has to be a price to pay and that price is a foggy memory.

Wink! Wink!
