Dec 17, 2011 Full story: Charleston Gazette 8

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- My county averages two overdose deaths a month. The new Gino's Restaurant cannot find enough people to stay open past 2 p.m. in spite of the unemployment.

"Checking the Pharmacy Board Prescription Drug Database by doctors and pharmacists should be mandatory. If a computer system such as PEIA's can tag a prescription and let me have a refill of my Lipitor three days early, why can't the same technology be employed by the Pharmacy Board to flag someone getting multiple prescriptions for controlled substances?"

__________ Staton still doesn't get it.
There are TWO main sources of narcotics that DO NOT report to the state pharmacy database.

1) Any methadone or suboxone clinic. The private enterprise that started that joke made sure that SAMSHA created a law that they don't have to report so as to protect the confidentiality of those seeking substance abuse treatment. Bull hockey.

2) The Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA does NOT report to the pharmacy data base, claiming it violates the privacy of veterans. Bull hockey again. They just don't want the public to know how much narcotics are flowing out of each and every VA.

Mr. Staton, I urge you to get educated before you start your political jargon about how you are going to fix things. You don't know 1/2 of the real story. Patients in "pain clinics" are NOT called in for pill counts. They are not given witnessed drug screens, so they bring in their child's urine. The doctors that operate these pill mills do NOT have proper followup. It would take a staff of 10 people to manage 500 patients. Look around, Mr. Staton. Its just not there.

PS-- How is Louise? Is she still f*ing over every working father in Raleigh Co in her 'lawmaster' business? Is she still giving custody to worthless mothers and propagating herself as the man-hater she really is?

Agree with some of your comments, but you need to do YOUR homework before YOU start flapping your fingers..The VA DOES report to the pharmacy board as well as Suboxone clinics...Methadone NO.... The urine drugs screens performed CANNOT be performed on a childs carried in urine..It would NOT be positive for the narcotic (Lets hope not) and would not be temperature accurate.

Most of the serious drugs in this area are coming from out of state and doctors locally who are from out of state

You really lost credibility when you started talking about his X_WIFE of 10+ years..

Sounds like a personal vendetta to me. Louise rule against you in a divorce??//

Sorry but you are sadly mistaken. The Veteran's Administration hospitals and clinics DO NOT report to the WV state pharmacy database or ANY pharmacy database in America. Check your facts.

Also NO drug treatment doctor or clinic, i.e., suboxone, or methadone clinic reports to ANY state pharmacy database in America. That is SAMSHA law.

Check into it before you post lies.

Check your facts::::
A lot of the suboxone clinics do not supply patients with the drug. They send their patients to the pharmacy. So those are reported to the board. Only if they fill the prescriptions in the office they do not have to report.

[I think you are NOTHING I'll informed. This year starting 1st of January.... Suboxone film is no longer covered by all WV insurers including Medicaid. They all prefer the drastically cheaper alternative generic buprenorphine and naloxone tablets. Basically generic suboxone tablets. But WV made them illegal. The only state to do that. So thousands of addicts that won't be able to afford 400 extra dollars a month after years of good life, they will now turn back to using or die. So. By thinking suboxone is bad or that tabs are more divertable.... You're insane. Anything that can be, will be. And suboxone has literally saved thousands of lives in WV alone! Should be in vending machines!! So. If you thought this problem was bad with opiates before.... Just wait for 2014. Thank the governor for signing the bill that fucked up everything we have moved forward on with this epidemic. Death. It's going to happen. Helping people, families, and employers of WV? Are you Fucking kidding me??? You're killing addicts, ruining families, parents will be too sick to help their kids get up for school,and many won't be able to go to work for a month or more thanks to being ripped off of this medicine. No reason. Someone got a big Fucking trunk of cash somewhere along the line! Only explanation for that much disregard for human lofe/well being.
