I'm fairly confident that the majority of DMV employees knows the difference between "there," they're" and "their." Also it's "dumb asses," not "dumbasses."i agree their all dumbasses.
Rudeness, red tape found at Beckley DMV
There are 62 comments on the www.register-herald.com story from Mar 14, 2012, titled Rudeness, red tape found at Beckley DMV. In it, www.register-herald.com reports that:
I am writing to you regarding an intolerable and disgusting situation which is prevailing in our Raleigh County. To get a drivers license in Beckley you go through some infuriating rudeness and an inordinate amount of red tape and time by some of the employees. To illustrate my wife of 40 years who was born abroad, has also had her license for 40 years. She went in and waited over an hour to speak with someone. After five times she still left crying. She was told she would have to produce both marriage certificates and some other forms of identification. When my wife returned again, the clerk blurted out loudly in front of many other people, Well, I hope you have all your forms this time. Again my wife left crying without her license. Heres my final thought. Having been sickened by the arrogance and rudeness of this woman, I took my wife to Charleston and within 20 minutes we were on our way home with her license (the same documentation that she was turned away with in the Beckley office). I asked the person in Charleston, Why the big difference? and without hesitation she said Because the people in the Beckley office are incompetent. The more I thought about it the more I realized some of the employees in the Beckley DMV just do not care. Wayne Hopkins Coal City

They don't care if y'all don't go back to that location in fact they love that so they are less busy in the future and can sit around even more doing nothing. This is why I hate government workers, because they don't have to be nice. Its not like the private sector where you can take your business somewhere else and they lose revenue. They don't care if you complain because even if you go to a different location, and pay gas tax driving here to Charleston, the state still collects your fee because you still need to get your license.
Before when I lived in Maryland the MVA was also very stupid, lazy, and incompetent and if anyone expressed their displeasure they would find ways to retaliate against you like "accidentally" flagging your license when you haven't even been pulled over. I think WV also has very powerful unions that keep these people employed. I think many of the MVA jobs should be automated. I would say about 4 out of 5 experiences I have with government offices is very negative. The last time someone in a private business really got me mad was over 6 years ago. |

isn't that strange how you can post from one place and it sais you posted from somwhere way away. I asked a buddy who knows all about that junk and he sais it has something to do with where the sattelite is that your wifi signal bounces off of or your cell phone carrier uses different sattelites...hell I don't know...lol. if that made any sense. I hate the dmv in Beckley. There is a girl named Charlotte that worked there that is so hateful. I complained about her but hell if I know if they did anything about it but it takes a lot for a nice guy like me to complain cuz I know people need there jobs and stuff but she really needs to find another one not working with people. |

Out of the DMV or out of Sissonville? I do like it here a lot so far. I still need to change my license over, wonder if I can get residency here while keeping my car registered in Maryland (I'm a student now) cause people can get a license even if they don't own a car at all. Getting a WV residency is easier in terms of getting a CCW permit and I do wish to vote in elections here. |

Unfortunately, they can't transfer between operators at the call center. However, they have 20 reps that are TRAINED in all areas of the DMV. The Regionals have a lot of turnover and chances are pretty good you may get a newbie...or a more seasoned CSR that was not TRAINED in all DMV areas. I was a five year veteran at the KC call center and I sat beside Jessica S...she really is great! Don't forget to write down the CSR's name when you call. Merry Christmas! |

They have one printer for titles at the regional offices...when one goes down and you need the title immediately...you have to visit another office. The problem is no one bothered to notify the next office that their printer is/was down. Poor communication is a BIG issue---a former Five-year DMV call center employee. |

Go to summersville dmv, have been there several times. The employees are polite, helpful, and your in and out before you know it. Maybe they should send the beckley dmv employees there for training.

I agree Wayne! Some of those people that work there have been there since trees were short and try to dress and act like teenagers. They are more concerned about their looks than being helpful.
Summersville has a DMV, office now also. They need to clean out most of the people in Beckley office are staff! |
