Obama keeps scoring

Parkersburg, WV

#1 Nov 25, 2013
“Today, 63% of Americans favor providing a way for immigrants who are currently living in the United States illegally to become citizens provided they meet certain requirements, while 14% support allowing them to become permanent legal residents but not citizens,” states a new report from the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI).

Barack leads us to do the right thing again even if hick West Virginians don't agree and want to stay in their hole.

He's also tougher on immigration than anyone gives him credit for - illegal entries are down and deportations are way up when compared to Bush.

You people are wrong on all accounts. Illegal entries are on the rise, but the border agents have been instructed to stand down. The illegals just aren't being caught. I have no idea where you get the idea that more are being deported. I also don't understand why you think Bush had ever been considered tough on immigration.

As for people supporting immigrants, sure. Everyone is ecstatic about drug cartels streaming across the border bringing a larger burden on the healthcare system with diseases such as drug-resistant tb. The few that do work are flooding the already along job market with cheap labor, without adding income tax revenue.

What doesn't surprise me is how you liberals always support higher wages and labor unions on the basis of human dignity, but you're totally ok with exploiting Mexican immigrants. I guess as long as you're sticking it to the evil rich, white, male republicans, that's all that matters. Suckers.

Just curious as to how you could know the illegal entries are on the rise if the agents aren't detaining them?

Arresting and deporting are two different things.

I read the news. There was even a story recently regarding boarder agents letting illegals pass when they claimed asylum. Once they pass, they are released on their own recognizance. These people aren't counted as "illegal" because, technically, they weren't. Another story described how border agents were told, literally, not to pursue people who entered illegally. Another recent story showed a large underground tunnel where an unknown number of immigrants used to travel freely across the border. God knows how many more tunnels are there.

I don't trust either side when it comes to the number of illegals crossing over, but I wasn't born yesterday. We used to not seeing many Mexicans in our area. Now they are just about everywhere. They don't speak English and rent run-down houses with 10 or 20 of them living together. I've also been to Texas many times. It's much worse there.

Gotta disagree that Mexicans are just about everywhere here. I rarely see them and I live in Kanawha Co., too. I'll bet WV is at the bottom in foreign population.

I just don't understand how you can say you know that illegal immigration is increasing. If you search the term illegal immigration decreasing, there are many sites who report that.

And if y you search the "phrase" illegal immigration increasing you will get the opposite results. Do you ever consider thinking for yourself? You read one thing that supports your argument and that's where you stop. Try reading various sources and draw your own conclusion.

All this side, let's try another approach here. Maybe you can understand it.

Hypothetically, there are currently 12 million Mexican immigrants in the US. For the 5 years prior to this study, there was an average of 500,000 illegals crossing the border annually. In the 6th year, only 400,000 illegals crossed, bringing the total to 12.4 million total.

Now. Did immigration increase or decrease?

You liberals never were much for common sense. I was talking to a lib the other day about taxes. I asked him how much he paid in taxes last year. His response?..."Nothing! I got money back!" I just shook my head and walked away. Don't think he'll ever get it.

I've been nothing but cordial to you and you have to start with the insults. Guess it's the Republican way. Even complimented the way you responded to a previous post today. Guess I was wrong. Shows weakness on your part. I could give you many examples of stupid things Repubs have said, but why get into that with you. You're in the right party with your arrogant attitude. Good-bye.

The rate of illegal immigration is decreasing. Most illegal immigrants work and pay taxes. It's not that liberals don't agree that illegal immigration is a problem, it's the ridiculous lies you use to forward your agenda of NOTHING - tell them they're all drug cartels and terrorists. That's stupid and those tactics don't work. They don't work with abortion, they don't work with illegal wars and they sure as hell don't work in elections. They're a primary reason why the GOP is a splintered and powerless party desperate to get out of the fringe. They're in the fringe because they have had no idea, no plan, no accomplishment and still don't even have a presidential candidate that isn't a nutcase laughingstock, not because they haven't gotten the word out that Obama is a Muslim extremist born in Kenya.

From what I am reading, the majority of posters are not following the topic. Yes, the majority of people support legal immigration they however do not support illegal immigration. Illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are criminals by virtue of them breaking the law and as such should be treated that way. For all you libatards such as the last poster, that feel that people should be allowed to break the laws of a country because they don't like them I will use an old quote. "If a government passes laws and refuses to enforce them, there are no laws and only lawlessness and chaos will prevail." Illegal immigration is not on the decline it is on the increase. The liberals that claim to be for the rights of everyone fail to realize that by allowing and rewarding people that break the law is a discriminatory action against the people that follow the path to become a legal citizen.

Why are you presuming I'm a republican? I don't like what they're becoming, either. Just like democrats, but not quite as far along.

Actually, Mr. Vito, the post was that 63% of Americans favor providing a way for immigrants who are currently living in the United States ILLEGALLY to become citizens provided they meet certain requirements, while 14% support allowing them to become permanent legal residents but not citizens. You're right, though, that even those of us who support the president on his stance on immigration and the illegal immigrants already here, don't support the act of them coming here illegally in the first place.

Well then congratulations. You're in the 23% who believes like you do (according to the article). And, it's not my inflated story. You could read the statement or look it up if you weren't so lazy, but I'll do if for you. The report is from the NON-PARTISAN Public Religion Research Institute. Now go back to sleep.

You hit the the nail on the head. They trump up these survey numbers. I for one dont want them here not knowing how to speak English and not not giving a damn about our constitution. They are just using them as as voting pawns and a way to overwhelm our economy and collapse it.

Obama care is a farse. It is a economic weapon. Written by the insurance companies to transfer money from the middle class to them. Liberals now admit there are death panels in Obama care. Look that one up as well. Democrats and Republicans are the same party and they try to destroy any third party system that is a threat. The tea party is all about small limited government and maximum individual freedom and they call them names. Who in their right mind would be against maximum individual freedom but communists and socialist?

we have enough legal citizens draining our tax dollars. how does it seem fair to let illegal immigrants take our jobs and receive welfare they've never and will never pay into? if you want to become an American citizen...do it the legal route or stay in your own country.
and also...I find it utterly ridiculous when calling ANYWHERE and having to press 2 for English. really? speak the language of this country or ADIOS!
