GW teacher allegedly fired today for inappropriate behavior

Why is it some teachers are fired and others are not for similar inappropriate behaviors? Are coaches protected ? Just curious. This is 2 scandals, actually the 3 rd at schools on The Hill in the past year.

I can tell you another GW scandal where a student that had pharmaceutical prescriptions from home and another student that was purchasing pills from said student. According to discipline policy, these students should have faced immediate expulsion for the remainder of the school year based on these offenses. However, mommy and daddy provided a lawyer for their "good little angel" and both students were back at school within the time period of about 2 weeks. Simply pathetic!

And from what I have heard, the current principal there is inconsistent with his treatment of teachers and places an emphasis on athletics. So unfortunately, it wouldn't surprise me if coaches would "fall under the blind eye" so-to-speak.

Everything is so "political" on the Hill it is disgusting - a bunch of fake - self important, pretentious, hard to be around people - its pathetic that people are like that and raise their children to be like that - I am SO glad that my children are good, kind, smart, well behaved kids that treat others with respect - soo many of the people there are such jokes

A friend of mine told me some of the things that have went on there. Changed grades for athletes, inconsistent treatment of teachers by the principal who "rules with an iron fist and middle school mentality", inconsistent discipline (the drug case I mentioned earlier). It's rather sad that the principal knows all of these inconsistencies and matters of concern and either chooses to look the other way or handle them poorly. If I was a parent, I WOULD NOT send my child there.

Well Im assuming you heard of the JA coaching coverup last spring involving a young female athlete. She suffered and he got a 3 week paid suspension. Apparently he was stripped of his Middle School coaching abilities such as football and softball but hes the wrestling coach at GW so god knows hes not gonna get fired. Hes gym teacheer at JA......still!!! Funny how they fire some and not all for same things. You are correct, its all in who you know!! Sick!! Rumor has it he even admitted to it all to the BOE.

From what I've heard, the principal there isn't the most popular person within the school either. Many of the teachers dislike his choices and decisions regarding the school operations. I am well aware that in education some people may make decisions and personal choices that aren't always the most popular, but apparently this individual has made some rather poor personal choices and decisions about school operations not just in the minds of teachers, but in the minds of parents and students as well.

This kinda stuff is on the news everyday, however, i must admit you never ever see anything go public when it happens at JA or GW of this nature until it leads to something so severe they are arrested etc. Why doesnt the board get rid of their teachers who are liabilities after the first or second incident? Why does it have to take a sexual assault or rape or whatever to do something about it? What happened to kids first?

It's all about the reputation of "the Hill". Heaven forbid that any negative publicity would get out to ruin the "wonderful" reputation of JA and GW. I have friends that are currently teachers there and they have told me some stories that the 6:00 news would LOVE to hear about: changing grades for athletes so that they would be academically eligible, the principal treating teachers very inconsistently and often disrespectfully, inconsistent discipline of students based on how much money students' parents donate or what their involvement is in the school. Two words.. SIMPLY PATHETIC!

I give several students rides home and I just heard from some students that there was pornography on his school computer. And then he apparently also touched a female student on the back and moved his hand down her back. Now they're willing to fire a man for that amount of touching why didn't they fire the coach at John Adams last year for all the touching he did. It makes no sense at all. There's no consistency. and the worst part is is he still the gym teacher there and around girls every single day.
