I used to see bears a lot. I mean they would fight on the hill behind my house, roam around on the road at like 3am, get in everyone's trash and everything. I've even came face to face with them before, but when I screamed they ran the other way lol. I live in Boone county, so it was VERY frequent. One even tore up my rabbit when I was little but as sad as that made me, I understood because bears need to eat too. I understood when they got in trash and tore it up trying to find something to eat. I know bears have to find food where they can, and that's why they sometimes come out where u can see them. Now, as u said, their habitats are being blown up by mountain top removal so of course the bear sitings will be more frequent. People should be understanding and not clal the DNR about the bear unless it's in danger, OR if they are in danger. Bears are my fav. animal, besides cats so I have a big soft spot for them. I hate that people are misusing the DNR with no regard to the animal's life or health.

I just wanted to add that I bought my dog from them and I haven't had any problems with her she's a spoiled little brat but I love her the only thing is that I think that they were wrong about what breed she is they said she is a cockerspaniel poodle mix but I think she is a daschund cockerspaniel mix and I don't know if there's a price difference but I paid $1000 for her. When I went to the store it seemed like the dogs were so depressed none of them seemed like they had a whole lot of energy. But so far so good with my baby Daisy I love her and she is the best thing that's happened to me. I would just like to say also that I have read some horror stories about people who have bought pets from petland I just want to send my condolences to those who have lost there pets to illnesses or if your pet is sick I hope everything works out.

Why did petland at southridge shutdown?
They had multiple fines for animal neglect. Someone filmed someone mistreating an animal there a few years ago and I was surprised they didn't shut them down then.

We tried to close Petland for years. They killed baby parrots and other birds by the hundreds in just one Southridge store. They were crooks and always hired crooked managers. Petland is a franchise out of Chillicothe Ohio, and the home office doesnt care who buys one of their franchises.

They didn't take care of their animals. Most of them were sick or died after you brought them.

I worked there thinking how id love my job, it was a nightmare! Quote"if you see a sick mouse, you put it in the box and put it in the freezer". I was devistated! I told him that I would absolutley not go through with that at all, and how is that humane? They had a blue gray hunting dog, similar to a lab that had been in there for months. All of a sudden she was bleeding everywhere, and it stunk soo bad! They said they took her to the vet and that her kidneys shut down. I didnt see that dog again after that. In the very back they kept a shelf like kennel full of dogs with staff infections, thier cages were cleaned with bleach daily and it messed up my lungs doing so and garuntee its the cause of kennel cauph. There were tea cup chiuauas that had two mats placed in thier cages so thier feet wouldnt fall through and break. There was a blue tick beagle I took home to try an nurse back to health, he was brought in too young and wouldnt eat. He didnt make it. this was in a period of a two weeks. I left and tried to contact the news broadcast to expose them. Do not buy from these types of places, its of the dead and dying! They should have skull and crossbones over thier doors! They will not feed those animals so they will not deficate in thier cages. Those places are literally hell on earth and need to be outlawed, buy from a private owner, not a corporation!

This problem extends beyond the pet store to the shelters to the homes of our neighbors ... I lost all my pets while I was locked up ready to die myself just for allowing them to be left to the hands of my evil ex and her new boy friends... havent seen them in three months and I am furious if anyone has any more information about letting gods creatures suffer dont be afraid to post names addresses whatever you have its my fault i lost my little angels ill be damned if I see it happen again right in front of my eyes... and to the bleeding hearts at peta f*ck it clean your organization from the inside out before an angry piece of dirty s^it like me does it for you f*ck ill do it anyways...

We bought an animal from there, which died. It was extremely overpriced to begin with. No refund and sorry about your luck from the staff.
