What does someone do about squatters moving in next door? The house hasn't been lived in for 5 year and is falling about. They have no water or power. They are filth. The people are filth. The owner of the house passed away.

you need to make a police report first. then go to magistrate court. you must find the owners of the home or request the city declare the structure uninhabitable. it takes forever to get squatters out but it is possible. I wish you the best of luck :)

Thank you for the information. They came over to my house asking for food and a ride. I told them to leave and not come back over.

Get ballsy and burn the structure down when no one is home. They're probably cooking in there anyway. Some neighborhood police may actually thank you

To turn away a person who is hungry and asks for food is wrong. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You're not as nice person

Whatever you do, watch your own property! We had that next door and things got rough once they figured out I wasn't an easy touch.(Others on the block gave these people food and the kids then asked every day.)

Pastor Mike should invite all those hungy people to a meal daily at his church. That's what churches are for. The regular family is endangering their homes, belongings, and loved ones by allowing people they don't know to run in and out. I too used to give srangers rides, food, cigarettes an yep - quite often things were missing from my car and home/yard. They will case you out re: livng alone - type of doors and windows you have.

I think the hungry are helped. HUD - food stamps, SSI CHECKS for old and disabled - WELFARE for children up to five years old and ALL MEDICAL FREE. Taxpayers do take care of the homeless but it's dangerous to do it one on one. There are homeless shelters, churches who give free food - many ways besides "bumming the regular JOHN DOE who works for a living and has full responsibility for his own family/business".

Can't count times I've given my lunch to homeless when on way to work - a cigarette - a quarter, etc. so it's not that I don't care!!! It's scary now folks. These houses that squatters move into are filled with rats, roaches, possums - many things that can hurt children - IT WOULD NOT BE NICE to allow people to continue living like that without water and a way to keep cool or warm - "think".

Don't give them anything. You never feed a stray dog they'll want more and more. If there's children there call police...it's child abuse and not there fault. The adults must be democrats. They can fin for them selves or die...whatever.

Pastor Mike is in name only. My church is the Appalachian Mts. I too grew up poor. Moved everytime the rent was due. Being poor does not make one less human than their lucky counterparts (only less fortunate.) What is dangerous about helping one on one. You are full of CaCa and using that as an excuse not to help. People lived for centuries without water and bathrooms. You are just fortunate. I had dirt floors growing up and and outside toilet. That didn't make me any less of a person than those with running water. Let those people be if you are not going to help. The poor need a place to live too. You just don't want them next door to remind you of what it is like to be poor.

The children live with their mom's brother. He is really a nice man. He has tried to help his sister and said he has done all that he can. But he will fight for her children to live and have a good life he can give them.

They buy beer and cigarettes instead of food. So you can think I'm not a nice person.

Not necessarily. You could have been given the house or inherited the house. I doubt your welfare paid for it.

That is your story I can't verify what you say. Do they not have the right to buy beer and cigs. if that is what they want to do?? You do what you want to do. Don't dictate to them what they want.

My parents are proud of me. Because I take care of myself. I do help people but when people demand that I give to them. NO

I have a right to buy what I can afford. All I'm saying is if they can buy beer and cirs. That's their right. And it's not about the food. It's how they come over and didn't really ask for food but told me that they seen I went to the store.. And I could give them food.
