There are 353 comments on the Charleston Gazette story from Jul 4, 2013, titled Ten Commandments monument raises civil liberty concerns in Wyoming County. In it, Charleston Gazette reports that:

A group of people did not seek permission before installing a monument of the Ten Commandments on the Wyoming County Courthouse lawn in Pineville this week, County Commission President Jason Mullins said, but he doesn't see a problem with it because it's meant to inspire others and isn't paid for with tax dollars.

You are in no way stating a fact. Not believing in Jesus is a belief that you hold. You get your information from the Bible which is not a book of facts. The Bible is proof of nothing; it is simply the claim.

What I have just posted are facts as they can be proven and checked. See the difference?

We may agree on many things, but religion is obviously not going to be one of them.

Just out of curiosity, why is it that you chose the Christian god to worship instead of any of the other thousands gods that people around the world have or still do worship?

I am also free to choose reality which is what I'll stick to. You can have your fictional battle of good an evil if that makes you sleep better at night.

Also, no one is telling you that you aren't allowed to believe in whatever you like. We are just telling you that it is full of holes, immoral, and unbelievable. Which, factually, it is.

Not even as a child did I believe such a thing. I guess that is what you get when you have parents and other influences on your life that believe in reality instead of superstition and dogma.
Veteran and Patriot wrote:

So, what you are saying is that no matter how much faith and belief you put into the Bible, those stories will never be the truth. I understand. This is what I have been saying for a long time. Faith is simply the lack of knowledge. That why the word was invented. You have to have faith that it is true because nothing proves it to be so.

I have for many years and I couldn't agree with you more! It's what allows me to sleep at night. Having the truth (scientific and otherwise) as opposed to faith, mythology, and superstition (which are not truth, simply beliefs) is as solid of a rock as you could ever have.

1. What rights are you losing?
2. Cops have harrased people since the invention of cops. What is different now?
3. Why shouldn't I stand up for the separation of church and state and for what our Founding Fathers intended?
4. The majority of people here know my real name. It isn't a secret. I have been posting for over 5 years. You aren't the first to ask what it is.
5. I do not live in Wyoming county. Yes, it's a county, not a town. Your statement is incorrect.
6. This is the ONLY account I have EVER used to post with. I stand by the things I say. If I say them, I don't want to hide from them.
7. The separation of church and state IS a big deal and protects Christians just as much as it protects other religions and non believers.

You don't understand how you were made. You are a human being with a spirit, a soul (mind, emotions, a free will), and a body. Did you know that? You could say that your body is your 'earth suit' that makes it possible for you to live on earth, but the real you is a spirit being, FDG. That explains how you were created in God's image. God is a Spirit. He has a soul with emotions and feels things just like all of us do. We (you and I) are created in His image. We were born a spirit with a soul encased in a body.

However, each of us were also born with a nature prone to sin. Therefore, we are sinful, but God is holy. He is sinless, so we are not able to have a relationship with Him while we are still sinners. He made a way though - His only Son. We must accept Christ and be born again - born with a new spirit that loves God. You are opposed to Him (and adamantly so) because you are still so busily and determinedly serving yourself. As a matter of fact, because of your sinful nature, you have become downright hostile towards God. The Bible tells us that the lost are hostile towards Him and refuse to submit. They are controlled by their sinful nature and cannot please God. That's written in Romans 8:7-8 just in case you want to confirm that what I'm telling you is true.

When we experience salvation (or new birth) here is what happens ... God says, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will put My Spirit in you."

Very good human reasoning EXCEPT for the fact that you'd rather turn a "blind eye" to God's law and follow man's? Wow. Let's take a quick look and see how successful man has been at creating, laying down, and enforcing societal law ...( L O N G PAUSE)... Yeh - nuff said!

I understand that these are the paricular superstitions that you have chosen to believe in. I get that. Why you chose this particular set of beliefs over the many hundreds (very similar to them) that exist in the world, I do not get.

I simply don't believe in the stories that you believe in. There is no reason to. There is no benefit from doing so. There is no proof that the god you have chosen to worship is any more real than any of the other THOUSANDS that man has imagined. I am not going to blindly follow something that isn't logical or based in reality. I resent those that do trying to force me to believe as they do and follow the same moral(or immoral in many cases) code as them. I do not like bigotry and will not tolerate it. That is probably my single biggest problem with religious folks.

I grew up in a baptist church and even sang in the choir. I am no stranger to religion. I have read your bible many times and know the stories well. Many of them are just stories as Science (as well as common sense) shows us that they can't be real. If we know parts of the bible to be false, why then should we believe any of it?

There are simply too many unanswered questions and too many falsities associated with this particular holy book for me to take it seriously. Those that do believe it to be 100% factual have a negative impact on society and on the human race in general. I can not be a part of that.

I appreciate your candor and your honesty. I can see that you believe in this cause with all that you have, but I believe that it is misguided. Unfortunately, we will have to agree to disagree on this subject matter.

No, it won't and it DOESN'T. Separation of church and state. You may WISH it did, but it obviously does not. This country would not survive if we lived under your god's law as the majority of citizens would be killed by this very law. Again, you may WISH that your god's law was the actual law, but it isn't anything like reality and the U.S. law that we ALL (including you) follow.

I understand that Christians are supportive of displaying the 10 Commandments, but do any of them want to defend placing it on state owned property? How could this be anything OTHER than a stunt that challenges the law and then forces other people to pursue the law to force the Christians to abide by the law? What an enormous waste of time - at least for the people who have to stop what they are doing to make the Christians behave themselves - Christians! I expected better from you. Put your statue on your church yard where it belongs. It would save a lot of time and money.

There is no more existence. It's game over. You had better hope you accomplished the things you wanted to do while you were here because there are no do-overs. You don't get a second chance. THIS is the ONLY life you are guaranteed. It would serve us all well to make the most of it.

Hey! We FINALLY agree on something. There are definitely no do-overs - none whatsoever. There are positively no second chances, so you'd better make the right CHOICE the first go 'round.
