I took methadone for 3 years, outpatient treatment. It would have been so much wiser to go through the 3-7 day opiate withdrawal on my own. After coming down for 6 months off 110 mg, I quit at 20. I was sick for 7 months afterward. It's been 1 and 1/2 years, and I still don't feel "normal." It screws with your entire system. Though I am clean now, I wish I would've never started MMT. Opiate withdrawal is NOTHING compared to methadone withdrawal! Please, just think before going to a Methadone clinic. Trust me, you'll regret it.

Yeah they don't advertise that. Methadone is supposed to be the worst w/d.
I've know people going through the same thing with suboxone. It may be great for people to help them get off opioids, but we're now seeing long term use of suboxone is just as bad

It took me several years to finally wean myself off ,methadone. Charleston treatment center should be shut down. They dont try to get you sober because then they cant take all your money. The way that patients are treated is borderline abuse. People can fail every drug test they give you and not be kicked out,but if you have a disagreement with a staff member they will throw you out the door. They are suppose to be there to help you become sober and deal with addiction, but patients are treated like children, scolded, belittled and abused. It amazes me that they havent been investigated and shut down. They are suppose to open at 530,and ive seen staff refuse to open because patients "lined up too early" and demand that everyone return to their cars and line up again, punish patients by making them wait. Nurses show up late all the time causing hour long lines, nurses forgetting the safe code. Once We had to go to huntington to dose because the nurse entered the wrong code too many times and couldnt get any medicine out. None of the counselors are former addicts and have no idea what addiction is like and cannot connect with patients and when they do get a decent counselor there they end up quitting because of the way patients are treated. I could go on all day about that hell hole, that place should be a final resort.

Yeah I have nothing but contempt for that place. I work in addictions, and being in recovery myself it amazes me how these "clinics" get away with the things they do.

I have heard stories about the safe codes. I heard that once the only person who could get the safe open was out sick so they just let the people go about their day. The disturbing thing is that there was only 1 person who could get it open? It wasn't a "person who knew the code" what I'm saying is that it sounded like other people knew the code but couldn't get it to work.
Regardless of inept case managers and nurses the methadone program should be shut down.

The government and drug companies want these places. I have a friend who was in an accident and his Dr.(in Nitro) put him on 30mg of Opana 2x daily. He was on those for 2 years. Instead of looking for alternate ways of dealing with pain (ie operation) the dr kept him on opana. Opana and Endocet (both made by Endo Pharma- go figure, right)
So the guy gets strung out. When he approached the Dr about it the Doc tells him that he just got licensed for the ability to prescribe Suboxone and suggested he starts that.

WTF? His pain management Dr is now writing Suboxone?
It's no wonder I'm always going to have a job- they (the docs) keep pumping out pill addicted zombies.

My apologies for the extremely long response.

I also went to CTC. Everything formerCTCpatient said about that clinic is true. Other clinics where I've guest-dosed had counselors that were recovering addicts. They DO abuse patients and hinder recovery. 95% of the staff is incompetent. Some pick and choose favorites and anyone not on the list becomes a potential target for harassment. Besides treating patients like trash, the place is filthy. I heard a counselor say once, walking past trash in the lobby, "I'm not a janitor and I refuse to clean up these people's filth."
A few years ago they had a counselor, Sally, who was wonderful. Everyone loved her, and she went above and beyond what hee title required. She left because she said she was tired of being the only employee who gave a damn and being persecuted for it. She had addicts in her family, and the cruel treatment of patients at CTC hurt her and she didn't want any part of it.
Something needs to be done about that place. Maybe if they got a new director and an entirely new staff, it would be a better place to go for help.

Sally was my counselor when i went there, she was the best. I went to group and becky the counselor who was teaching the group kept trying to push the bible and god on me and i politely told her i wasnt religious and didnt believe in it she got really offended and just stopping even acknowledging i was there, then she started finding ways to harass me every chance she got,she would ask me for my priority card in line every day and even tried to get my takehomes revoked because i refused to show her my card one day i had never failed a drug test or did anything wrong. I told sally about it and she immediately took care of it and agreed that i was being harassed. Sally made it to where i instead of group i would just see her once a month. After she left i started tapering off a couple mgs a week and once i hit 10mg i stopped going and havent looked back

I preach this to people all the time: if you're being treated like that then file a complaint with Legal Aide in consumer advocacy. That's what they're there for.
Treating recovering addicts like garbage really shows a lack of compassion and intelligence. I love when you get a self righteous jerk who preaches Christianity at you and behaves in a way totally contradictory to the Christian faith.

Sally was a dovetail of a hottie. Even with all that done in my veins shed wake me up at 5am just seeing her knee high boots and tight skirt. Holy s@#!/. She had a good heart too I must say. Wasnt even my counselor but still liked to help. Probably had a crush on me. Nancy Capps was the best. She didnt play when someone tried to mistreat me there. I loved that lady and would help het to this day any way that I can. Fu@& that whole place cause mostly its made to kill you and bleed you of every penny you can steal to feed the beast. 160mgs a day down 3mgs every other day until I hit 8mgs and said it aint worth the line. No suboxone no tabs just a little blood pressure medicine b12 shots and long walks every morning and I kicked the done and benzos after 6yrs on. Molars crumbled from eating just a slice of pizza and counselors and nurses told me it wad because opiate junkies crave sweets....are you out of your mind or just stupid? They also told me that I couldn't quit because I needed the done to help me work every day. My whole paycheck went to them so I know they thought I needed to work didnt they. It was a rough first year but It was worth every agonizing minute. Keep it real with yourself and just start the detox and hit na meetings. I wish all of you the best.

I have been a patient of the Charleston Treatment Center, 2157 Greenbrier Street Charleston, West Virginia 25311 for over 5 years. I used to recommend this treatment facility to every addict or potential addict I knew. Now I tell people to go else where, avoid it like the plague because the only thing Charleston Treatment Center is concerned with is the MONEY, huge bags of it leave every week. Cash, Cash Cash and more cash. Now that the prior prison Doctor has left, the new male Doctor is making ALL patients come off their benzodiazepine medication, regardless of the conditions it treats or the length of time they have been on it. People are being given an ultamatum that they must choose between methadone and continuing to take their benzodiazipine medication. For those patients who do the right thing, have never missed a pill count or done anything wrong, this is an outrage, and its not legal and will be reported ASAP. If you are in need of treatment seek it somewhere else. The nurses are over worked and they can't keep any for a long time, and the staff is every changing and so are the doctors. If you want stability in your life and your treatment go else where.

I have been a patient at the Charleston Treatment Center for 5 years. I agree with all the comments above BUT things there have changed guys. Really - you wouldn't recognize the place! Its clean and the counselors are great and they now have counselors who ARE in recovery!!! I couldn't believe it either! FINALLY - I can honestly say that the place is for the patients now - I am getting the best care and I am totally grateful. Seriously you wouldn't believe it - and the best part is that most of the counselors are really hot! Seriously - makes Sally look like potatoes:)

Yeah they have a lot better counselors, but they are being taken advantage of. Have you seen the priority line lately? All the fiends who don't work are being given priority cards. I'm soo sick of these people sleeping in their cars in the parking lot just to get dosed 5 minutes early.

I too agree with the comments above. I've been a patient there now for three years and I have been shocked and appalled at how treatment there goes. I never agreed with the new doctor taking people off their needed prescription medication. Recovery is a two step process of physical and mental well being. The methadone keeps people on their feet and not sick and their prescriptions for mental health keep them going in that right direction. It doesn't make sense for a doctor to punish people and take away their mental health medication. Also, as long as they are not throwing people out for smoking weed then why would they throw someone out for taking thier Prozak? Yes you read that right. You can get thrown out by the new doctor for taking a Prozak prescription you've had for years but not for a dirty drug screen. I actually do love the new counselors. I feel like I have someone who wants to help me. Who are the counselors that are in recovery? I don't know that statement to be true. Last thing I will say is no one wants to help you dose down and out. They need more push to heal and get on with your life. I am dosing down and out. It will take what seems like forever to do but I will do it. I will also be doing it with little to no help from the CTC. All you ever hear about is how hard it is going to be and how sick you will be. There is no positive you can do it let me help you attitudes. I would much rather see people getting help there than on the streets with the possibility of ODing and the chance someone young and innocent will find your drugs and take them. Happy recovery ya'll.

Einstien's blood was tested after his death. The autopsy showed traces of LSD as well as Dimethyl-triptimene (DMT)

In 1955, Albert Einstein died from his heart exploding 'burst aortic aneurysm' which could have easily been caused by years of cocaine use in conjunction with his age at that time as cocaine users are found to have more than four times the risk of coronary artery aneurysms than non cocaine users as per the Journal of the American Heart Association.
