Convicted drug dealers should be shot not sent to prison.

In theory prison WAS FOR REHAB - but usually the criminals just get meaner for being beat up and raped, etc. They hate even more when they get out than they did before they went in. Even though they made the conscious decision to do wrong, they blame it on their childhood. Well fine, but by the time someone is in their 20's and especially if they have children of their own - THE BLAME GAME is dead...

I've always thought re: convicted felons: When they get released, they have help getting a job with employers who would maybe get a tax break for hiring them. In some cases, if the ex felon gets a job with HELP, then they need monitored and if they quit their jobs, back to jail they go.

Just letting someone out on the public who has no home, no job, no money, no food - you know they are gonna do "whatever" it takes to get what they need and the cycle goes on.

But I am sick of seeing people getting SSI, Food Stamps, Hud - and then see them drinking and gambling and doing drugs on the backs of the taxpayers.

It's a touch decision.

If you feed them they are less likely to steal from you. It's a tough decision.

Lots of reasons somebody could be a felons. And if they served their time they deserve food stamps as much if not more than the regular public just to get their lives together. I think they should get to vote also and if their felony had nothing to do with certain crimes they should be allowed to have weapons too. Prison is for rehabilitation right?
You gotta be an ex-con to talk that dumb shit!

That's just great. They'll even get a medical card so they can get free drugs too. Just love these stupid senators. A child could make better decisions than some of our elected officials. Oh yeah, don't forget about the $1,000,000. that our good governor gave to Jim Justice. If he wants to have a PGA Golf tournament, let him take some of his millions and pay for it and not the tax payers. Everything is corrupt.
this person is stupid felons almost 95% of them pay taxes and can not vote for how there money is spent and now can not get help this is robbery against them and is in no way constintutional we have got to start treating these people right or we will not ever be able to rehabilatate them

Several GREAT posts on this particular thread; especially from a couple of folks who are obviously former felons and have lived the life. Let's pray for a brighter year for them and for all who are trying to find their place in this unfair and worsening world. Never stop trying.

Might I remind you all with your harsh comments that some convicted drug felons do turn their lives around and stop using drugs, therefore needing help with things like public assistance due to their inability to get many jobs. There is a big difference is being convicted for possessing drugs and distributing drugs, which mainly is addiction vs. dealing. Everyone has problems and issues so don't throw stones if you live in a glass house and if you don't like the system here in the great United States of America, either leave or do something to change it. Bitching and moaning just fuels hate and ignorance.

Even murders get food stamps. Why not give them to a person who once had a drug problem. They have to eat, get old, or sick. May never get in trouble again in their lives, should they pay forever for mistakes they may have made as a young person? I think it's wrong. If you went to jail, just like the person who murdered someone... Society says they paid their debt. I don't consider this to be true, murder leaves a poor family of victims doing life without parole. Yet they can get help. Just sayin.

They allow women with multiple children all kinds of free help. Drug test them all for benefits more than four children cut off from everything a mess.
