How much longer is the city of Charleston going to allow this place to keep it's doors open? Shootings, stabbings, drugs, violent fights, etc. Seems like once a week or more.
Come on Mayor Jones show you care for the descent citizens of your city and do something about this combat zone.

Until Impulse is closed completely and not just for a week or two, but 100% shut down i'll not frequent another bar in the downtown areas of Charleston. I have people that depend on me and I have too much to lose. My being in the hospital or dead just doesn't fit into my long range plans.

Someone needs to start a campaign to rid Capital Street of that gang infested watering hole.

What is UP with all this crap lately? I mean really? Used to be if you has a problem with someone, you took it outside and the worst thing that could happen is someone would end up with a black eye. Nowadays, they have to kill each other or attempt to kill each other? Now, tell me ... seriously ... what is the world coming to? Any "man" with a knife or gun to "settle a score" is NO MAN at all - just a coward afraid to face another man toe-to-toe!

It just isn't worth it, and they are ruining it for everyone. I agree with the poster who said,

"SHUT 'EM DOWN!" and do it now.

Is it really a gang hangout? I heard Charleston had a gang problem while I was living in Beckley and one guy even told me that the gang frequented a bar in the downtown area. I guess that Impulse place must be the one. Don't see myself or any of my colleagues checking that place out anytime soon.

You guys know that as soon as they shut that place down, someone else will jump on the vacant space, open a "new" club, and it'll attract the same garbage. Just shut it down & lease it for office space. The residents of Charleston aren't mature enough for a "club" scene.

They're too "redneck" (it's an attitude, not a skin tone) to handle their booze without startin' shit.

WHOAAA, it was NEVER Lucky Lavertys ever!!! Chris never put up with crap inside his bar, he made ppl take it outside across the street and down the road!! Once outside his bar it was not his responsibility!! Just because the trash came from his bar doesn't mean the crap was in his bar, he didnt't put up with crap yet rumors like this kept the ABC and City on his a$$ and he closed shop, sold Lavertys, moved outta this state and is very happy now!! So again nothing ever happened at Lavertys itself, yes there was a few fights nothing major and yes they were thrown out as quick as it started no one tried to kill anyone there so X Lavertys out it's pure lies, bs and rumors!

since when did gangs with "colors" move into this area. I've lived in the Charleston area my entire 30 years and have never had any concern for what color I was wearing.

I thought they were just thugs with some odd sense of entitlement.

Hum go figure. When your ex is a state rep in dc and your on the mayor's pocket you can do as you please. Hell impulse has been in more trouble then Joes and lucky lavs combined. I warned the city when this place opended that the manager was a bouncer at banana Joes and caused major problems there bit hey what do I know. Good luck Charleston. Miss ya but dont miss the bs. I dont pay off people to stay in business I worked for everything I have and will not be forced to kiss ass to stay open.!!!

There are no gangs in charleston, anywhere. maybe a group of people that hang out together, but no real "gangs". Charleston and the surrounding areas have a low crime rate, compared to any other so called city -no matter what state you go to. the media, and the mayor make a big deal out of every little thing that happens. things like this are going to happen whenever you mix young guys, alcohol, and women. even on the westside, most people are find trouble when they are looking for it. VERY RARELY, does anything happen to a random person. Charleston as a whole is a pretty safe place. But people here like to complain about the wrong stuff. and i would hope that the mayor would have better things to worry than a bar downtown. Its like they do everything possible to run young people out of this state.

You know I go to impulse and to the moose and to other clubs and bars and honestly impulse isn't that bad yes there has been more thuggish type guys coming in there which in my opinion needs to stop buttttt for the considered gang type people they aren't there....most of the ppl on here talkin crap probably hasn't been there ever !!! I know countless ppl that work there and honestly I feel safer there then at the blue parrot sky lounge or anywhere else....ppl have beef and things happen but you can't blame it on the place where that happened....if there were 3 stabbings to happen at the mall in a few weeks will you blame the mall and want it closed??? Completely doubt it!

anyone claiming to be a gang member in charleston, is a true clown. Folk Nation? Go to a place like Chicago and say your in a gang and see the response you get. Back in the early 90's it was way more crime in charleston, but still no real gangs, just more drug violence back then
