Let me go ahead and get this out....I am agnostic...For those who aren't sure what that is, it means I do not follow any faith but I do not recuse it either. I respect anyone's beliefs, however I choose not to follow any.
However, I was watching the news today and the Rev. Matt Malone was there. The question was asked to him (in the sense that people are questioning religion), "Why would God let this evil happen?" His answer blew me away. He simply stated, that it is a mystery. Nobody knows that answer.
All my life I have heard people say, "Well, it is Gods will." That is always the typical answer and I absolutely despise that answer. "Oh sweetheart, I am sorry you lost your mother in this tragedy, but it is Gods will." Growing up, I wondered why Gods will was to kill people. Never understood it.
This Reverend said it like it should be said. Nobody knows. You may think you know because that is what you were raised to believe and your faith leads you to think that. But the reverend eluded to the fact that nobody can answer why, you must rely on your faith that God is there especially in the people who are there to help in such tragedies like nurses, policeman, fireman, medics and so forth. I cant see just dismissing a tragedy because it is Gods will or it is what he wants. And then in the same breath, you hear how he is a forgiving god. So if he is forgiving, then why are innocent people dying. Why are kids being raped, tortured, killed.
I am not knocking religion. I am simply trying to make a point that finally, one man says it like it is. One man said we don't know but you see God all around you. I wish I would've met this reverend years ago before I formed my opinion on religion.

When man transgressed Gods law in the garden that is when sin entered the world and hence evil was set free. This is why boston happened as with all bad things since the start of the world. Yes God could have stopped this as he can stop or start anything, but He allowed us "freewill" including the bad in his plan. It might be hard to accept or understand but thats how it is- mans penalty for not obeying Gods rules.

Wrong again, these religion followers acted in the name of Abrahams God, Ally, the name of God in Arabic. In fact they were following their religion to kill the non-believers, those that kill their Brother, Sisters and Children in the Middle-East. So in fact by their definition it was "Gods Will" that those killed and injured served a religious purpose, they would also describe the Boston bombings as in fact an act of God. A phrase that Coal Companies like to use. It really doesn't matter, as long as we the People of the United States keep killing and support the killing of those that believe in Islam, bombings and killings of U.S. Citizens will continue in the name of God. abba, thumping your Bible is no different than a Muslim thumping their Koran.

Why God allows bad things to happen has always been and will probably always will be something that puzzles me. I may never have an answer and for someone to say its a mystery and no one knows will be about as good a reply as we will ever get.

Your problem is that you equate a Devine Entity in the equation. Once you remove the Supernatural Entity you will be left with the answer, A political party (Republican) that is against "WE the People" and the U.S. Constitution. Big Business and Corporations that are parasites on "We the People" and the U.S. Government. The Chamber of Commerce that represents Big Business and Corporations. The NRA that advocates the Arming of indivuals for the possible insurrection of the government of "We the People". Some mystery.
