Yes, I agree. People who can work should not be on welfare. And, contrary to what Republicans accuse us of, most Dems believe that, too. I mean, why would we want people to just be handed welfare when they can work? If some of my Dem brothers and sisters disagree with me, let them tell us why.
Here's the answer, and you probably won't like it. The Democratic party (and that doesn't mean all democrats believe everything Democratic, just like all Republicans believe in all the Republican policies/beliefs), but Democratic politicians WANT people NOT TO WORK, because those people will continue to be a vote for them. It sounds crazy and lame, but Republican politicians expect an able-bodied person to work and pay some taxes. I think the 47% comment from Romney was terrible, but I really believe he meant those people who have never worked and CAN work will never be swayed to vote for him. He certainly got the % wrong (I guess...?) I don't know the numbers or the percents. But, he is absolutely correct in his thinking he will never get the person collecting handouts to vote for him. Why would they? He isn't going to allow them to live off the government. On the other hand, Obama is all about giving to anyone and everyone who is in need WHETHER OR NOT they are in need due to laziness, morals, up-bringing, etc. The sad part of all this is the thinking that this is "helping" all those people. Ever hear that saying "give a man a fish, he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime."? That applies here. Obama and like-minded Democrats (whether you are one, I don't know), WANT this segment of society to be dependent on the government because those are certain votes for the Democratic party. It's akin to what I see as the WalMart mentality. WalMart has put many businesses out of business due to their conglomerate corporation and the fact they can buy in huge quantities from manufacturers/vendors and receive discounts due to the volumes they buy; in turn WalMart can sell their wares cheaper and naturally, everyone wants to shop at WalMart. Why wouldn't they? It hurts the small business but who cares, right? These "live off the government scums" will never work anywhere as long as they are given the means to "get by" by the Obama-like people. Quality of life doesn't matter to some people. They have no pride. Matters not whether they ever own a home, a car, BUY food for their own families, etc. If they can "scrape by" with the government hand-outs, they walk just as tall as the working man who is their neighbor! I believe you are a Democrat just by your posts and you probably believe I am a Republican. I am actually a registered Democrat, but I am so discouraged by the way things are with our government, I can't be proud to be a Democrat these days. My son gave me a "test" to determine which party I am most like... He said I am a very weak Republican! lol I think you and I could sit down and talk about politics, however. Many people can't do that. Maybe we are open-minded...:))

It makes sense that you have some Democrat beliefs in you because you haven't been nasty like most Republicans are on here. I do disagree that Dems want people to be dependent on them to get their vote because the lazy and won't work crowd doesn't vote. I heard Rush say that many years ago and a lot of people have picked it up. In fact, unfortunately many legitimate welfare recipients don't vote. Believe it or not, most Dems are Dems because they have compassion for the underdog or whatever you want to call him. The Bible refers to them as "the least of these." I'd say from your posts, you are that way to a degree, too. I guess maybe the difference in the way the two parties look at welfare and welfare recipients is by who they focus on. If six out of ten welfare recipients are lazy and underserving, I still focus on the four who deserve it and will be helped by it. And to help those people, if it means that the other six underserving get the welfare, I would rather than happen than those who deserve it not get it. Republicans seems to focus on the six. If it means that we have to cut four deserving people who would be helped off of welfare to keep the six cheaters from receiving it, they;re okay with that. Since the system isn't and never will be perfect, we may never be able to keep all the cheaters from playing the system, so I go for the first example. Way too long of a post. Sorry

What was the clearly laid out plan, uh huh? You probably won't answer for hours or days since you don't know and will have to research it. Remember, if it's so clearly laid out, you'll need to give details that neither one of us heard from Romney. Sorry to be so stupid. But, I'm not liberal. But, you obviously are with your morals and language from your "wacking it" comment.

Is there anything else you guys can think of to discuss on here? I mean, why continue with all the mindless chatter about butts and gerbils and the rest of the idiotic stuff you are all guilty of displaying on here? What is the purpose of having a discussion amongst yourselves that doesn't pertain to politics at all? I am asking this as a serious question. Not meant to make anyone mad or be mean. Can't we get back to discussing these candidates and try to be respectful of each other? It is a very emotional subject but we all have our own opinions. At the same time, if we could calm down and be serious, some of us might be swayed to another "side" if we could just hear something besides gerbils and butt holes. Also, this isn't directed just to you. It just happened that your post was the last one on here when I looked at it again.

The 5th chapter of 1st Timothy describes when the Church should aid members. If a widow has children or nephews ,or under 60 yrs old she dont qualify . If a man wont provide for his own ( his children) or his house ( thats his family ) he is worse than a infidel. And hath denied the faith . So when you endorse laziness as a Christian you have denied the faith yourself! If you had faith to start with ! This response is addressed to Christians who thank Christ endorses laziness ,abortions ,and gay marriage !

Ladies and gentleman allow me to sum it up in a nutshell. President Obama will be re-elected to a second term and that's all there is to it. Now granted WV won't vote for him, but in the end it doesn't matter. Governor Romney has went as far as he can go in politics and he will bow out gracefully.

Have a blessed day

I endorse none of those things, wow. I am opposed to abortion, but electing a Democrat has no affect on abortion. Hasn't for 40 years. Abortion became legal under a Republican president. The Supreme Court justice who wrote the opinion on Roe vs. Wade was Harry Blackmun, a former Republican judge from Minnesota. Eight of the nine Supreme Court justices on the court before Clinton took office were appointed by Republicans. If Roe vs. Wade won't be acted upon by a court with eight of nine justices appointed by Republicans, then it never will be. Republicans aren't against abortion. They just say they are for political purposes. The evidence for this is that they haven't done anything about it in 40 years. They haven't even tried. And people like you aren't outraged by it because you keep supporting a party who says they're against it, but does nothing about it. You use abortion and Christianity for your own means, too.

It's just hot-button issue designed to keep the right worked up into a frenzy...just like gun control. Nothing is going to happen with either, but the right needs something to whip their voters up into a frenzy. Just like they are using the debt for the same reason. The debt went up 11 trillion dollars from 1980 until 2008 and there were 3 republican presidents during that time. It has gone up another 5 trillion under Obama (and some of that was inherited from Bush's last budget) and they want to blame it all on Obama. Do they ever think about how silly they look?

They care nothing about the truth, Sundog. Only about how they can twist it to their own use. They have no morals. They are made up of two types of people. People who don't pay attention to what's going on in the world and therefore believe Republicans based on what they say instead of looking at what they do and people who know exactly how dishonest and greedy the party is and are 100 percent in favor of that.

Romney came out looking rested and ready, like a billionaire who has been at his mountain retreat, training for a heavyweight fight. Obama looked tired and weary. Like a man bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders, which he is. Romney was articulate and aggressive, and he steam-rolled over Jim Lehrer, causing the flock to get all weak in the knees and shout "Hail, Our New Leader, for this is a man who takes control".
What they call leadership, was really a display of of what Romney would be like if he became president. A guy who won't compromise. He will say and do whatever gets him what he wants. He has no respect for others, or for rules and fairness.
It seems that being right or telling the truth doesn't matter. It only matters that you look like you're in charge. This is how we are choosing a leader? Come on, this guy's a psycho.

I've said this many times elsewhere but you have to give the republicans credit for realizing that the people who vote for them won't research the claims they make. They just assume that everything a republican politician says is true and that everything a democrat says is a lie. Republican politicians know how to whip voters into a frenzy. They just lie to them about abortion, gun control, and now the debt. But at the same time, republicans never ever do anything about any of those things. No wonder republican politicians are so anti-education.
