Servers make $2.13 an hour. It is assumed that customers will tip servers, that's why restaurants are allowed to pay so much less than minimum wage. The added gratuity is to ensure that the server gets the gratuity that they are owed. Large parties often don't tip as much as they should (Meaning less than 15%). When you go to a sit down restaurant where you have a server you know that you are supposed to tip. If you don't want to tip, then go to a fast food restaurant where no one has to wait on you.

I tip as the service deserves. Having said that, I very rarely get service that gets less than 20% tips.

I tip according to how I am served. Sometimes more AND sometimes less. Has nothing to do with the food.

Charles always tips 20%. I know him. He just doesn't like being told what to tip. The restaurant should pay the waitresses and charge the customer accordingly in their food bill. I call their pay Govermental discrimination. Waitresses should form a union and sue the Federal govt. for discriminatory practice in pay. No other group of workers are treated this way.

Why not pay blacks, whites and Mexicans on a different pay scale. Pay them by their color. That is the same as what the govt. is doing to waitresses.

Even welfare reciepiants are paid more than waitresses and they don't work. It is an unfair practice approved by the Federal Govt. This needs to be stopped. A waitress should be paid minimum wage and get to keep her tips.
