First the Gary Southern press conference!

Then last night someone on my Facebook shared a post by Denny's (Freedom top dog i think) wife....where she stated that people were making too big of a deal out of this, that the media is just manipulating everything and making it seem worse! She also posted about how tough it has been on poor Denny.

Unbelievably, she also posted that no one, or nothing, had been hurt or damaged by this incident! Are you kidding me?? She doesnt think that all of the businesses that have had to shut down havent been hurt?? All the folks with babies and young children have not been hurt by this?? The schools that have had to close arent taking any losses or damage??

She also went on to claim that this chemical isnt harmful and that she even saw ducks along the river, so it hasnt even harmed animals??

How far out of touch are these people??? You can tell that they are rich amd have money, they dont have to worry about water or anything else.

Its just unbelievable that a company and its employees and associates could be so incredibly insensitive, hurtful, and rude to the people of WV.

SORRY that you guys dont see our state as important, or this situation as a crisis, or our people as human beings that matter!

I bet if it happened to you guys and you couldnt get your nails or hair done or go on your fancy vacations then it would be a crisis to you.

Hard to belief it when you see that kind of self-centeredness in it's full ugliness, isn't it? Out of touch - yes; but more likely that these people just don't care about anyone but themselves. Where have the Freedom Industries leaders been as the National Guard, DEP and Water Company people have been there working around the clock to fix this mess? Hiding out with their PR firm and lawyers? Where are the updates from the company that Gary Southern said would be coming?

Have they moved those chemicals? To where? Did they move them up to their other facility in Nitro? What's in those other tanks? What's the plan for those? If the Freedom Industries leadership had character or integrity, they would "man up" and at least give that information and get their hands dirty helping to clean up their mess.

I can forgive the Southern man for drinking water during the press conference, he was obviously losing his voice and having difficulty talking. However, his overall presentation was one of someone who was not prepared, was clueless, and seemed to not really care. It was like he was making light of what is a pretty serious condition.

No, it's not something to freak out about and go crazy over, water will be back on with in a day or two, but it has been a serious issue for 300,000 plus people in our state.

This reflects badly on the Charles Ryan Company as well. They are obviously not capable of handling large issues like this in a professional manner.

According to this article - they're reporting:

UPDATE (Sunday)

WSAZ-TV reports the following:

Susan Lavenski, a PR representative with Charles Ryan, says they have decided to stop representing Freedom Industries. The decision was made this morning.

No further explanation.

Ok has anybody missed the fact that the coal companies they did work for just gave them a job of rinsing chemical off and storing it on a site close to the river. They should never have had a contract or whatever for that company to do that work. If you hire a consultant from outside your firm, you would make sure he's worth the money you pay them. Same difference - the attorney's will know. They will go after where the most money will come from. Shouldn't have to be a suit - the place should claim blame and make an offer via attorney general TO SIMPLY PLACE monies in a health plan for people needing tested or medical help - and give the rest to to all the families who use American Water. No need for a third party attorney to get 2 mill out of 3.5 million settlement - which is what happens folks a percentage and office fees.

The truth of the matter is there the media and then the people made way too much of this. I am sure that the water was still clean enough to use to bath and wash clothes in, maybe one could wait to drink it, but even that is debateable. Every since 9/11 this country has become a nation of whiners and cowards.

I went ahead and showered with it and even did two loads of laundry and I swear to you I look and feel fine. This has been way and I mean way over exagerated.

Freedom industries may be at fault for the leak, but I swear in my opinion it wasn't near as dire as portrayed.

West Virginians are too weak minded to think on their own and that is sad.

http://weknowwhatsup.blogspot.com/2014/01/tox... Go to this address and you can read how irresponsible freedom is. We are also not being told all of the facts about this chemical. The MSDS that was part of a news piece was only partially revealed, there was another section. Long term effects of this chemical if ingested, can be very harmful. If it is " Water Soluble", why worry? My wife recently had surgery, and after taking a shower around 4:30,(prior to being notified.) Her incisions were getting infected, just in a matter of hours. She was sent home with prescription strength ointment and it has cleared it up, but she was doing fine with them. Why was she affected so quickly, and what are they not telling us. I find it very hard to believe that the day this tank started leaking, is the day it was noticed. It could have been leaking for several days at a lesser rate, and gone unnoticed. I am not over reacting, but I do not care for the cavalier attitude or the Freedom spokes person, and why were they not present at the Governors press conference? Looks to me like one would want the person responsible there, if only as to appear to be making a good will effort to assist. I don't think that I am the only one who feel this way.

Hey Truth is, Bite me!!! I am not a "can artist", use spell check. I am making people aware, maybe you prefer to be left in the dark, or you have an interest in an entity involved in this fiasco. I do urge anyone, however who has became ill from this to make Freedom pay. Did they care enough about us to initiate a containment process immediately? NO !!!! They didn't take action until they were told to do so. So you need to get over it. It wouldn't be taxpayers paying anyhow, How stupid are you? Unless you own Freedom, You should be ashamed of your self for not caring about the health and well being of your family, and dare I say loved ones. It is people like you that allow things like this to keep happening, by not holding corporations responsible for their actions. So until you have something beneficial to post, why not just keep quiet. I think that is a great idea. Why don't you justify your post when you come back. That means back it up with fact, like I did stupid.

I told you he was just another low budget CON-ARTIST trying to get something for nothing. Bitch, why not just try and organize a class action lawsuit? Show me ONE person that was injured over this. Just one you SOB! Again it's slime balls such as yourself that hurt us all in the long run.

Sure several have been inconvenienced, but show me one individual whose health was harmed over this. And not some cretin like yourself trying to convince others, but documentation from a medical doctor claiming their illness was due to Freedom industries.

bet your sleazy ass can't.

BTW: Son are you not aware that after surgery sometimes they are complications such as infections and such that are common occurence.? Dude your not just sleazy you also appear ignorant!

You don't want the "truth" told, Truth is. I have a relative who lives in the downtown corridor. She drinks nothing but water - she's a health nut - and the day of the incident, she was throwing up and had diarrhea. Her head was pounding by the end of the day, and she needed medical treatment in the ER for dehydration. The doctors had already seen several cases of the same. Believe me when I tell you, she has a copy of that medical report and WILL press charges should any further medical compilcations arise from this exposure. Also, have you been downtown? You can hardly breathe from the licorice-type chemical stench. But of course, it's no problem, right? Right!

Whether or not that woman's infection is related to this chemical is something for doctors to determine ... if they can. One of the problems is that there isn't complete information known about this chemical. You call that man ignorant, and yet you assume because you took a shower in the water and saw no immediate effects, that that means everything is okay. That is an assumption on your part, without any facts to back that up either.

Will there be some people who try to take unfair advantage of this situation? Yes, unfortunately, that happens every time something like this occurs. But are you honestly saying that the man whose kidney transplant had to be postponed was just "slightly inconvenienced"?? What about the businesses and employees that lost income? Should they just "suck it up and deal with it" because Gary Southern, William Farrell and their other business partners decided to throw the dice on a deteriorated facility that they knew needed major repair? Really?? So the National Guard and dozens of other people who have been out there busting their humps to clean this up should just chalk this up to a nice little exercise?? Meanwhile, where are the Freedom Industries owners and their families? How pompous and presumptuous you are to lash out at everyone but the people you should be taking to task!

I am not anti-business, nor anti-coal. I grew up in a family where many of the men in my family supported their families directly or indirectly through the coal industry. But right now, the coal and related industries are shooting themselves in the foot when they give a wink and a nod to the kind of shoddy, half-assed and irresponsible operations like what was going on at Freedom Industries. None of the owners involved are rookies in this business. They've been around the business for a long time... and they know better than what they did.

So before you jump in to stick up for them and tell other people to just "buck up", you'd do well to realize that their carelessness and this mess have just handed the people that are anti-coal a lot of ammunition wrapped up in a bow.
