King of the projects. LoL when your kid is in school and the class is talking about where their parent work when its your kids turn what will they say "my daddy/mommy lays on the couch drinking mountain dew eating snacks then watches tv and plays call of duty.Sometimes we go to the store but its hard for my parents to get around because they weigh 500lbs.

I received Food Stamps and could not be MORE APPALLED at the way I see my fellow recipients spending their allotment. I look at these carts filled to the brim with Banquet, Little Debbie, CASES and CASES of Pepsi, and plenty more artery clogging, diabetes causing food and drink. Then I look in my cart at my organic vegetables, raw nuts, lean meat, and natural peanut butter and I'm wondering how I'll make it through the month because food that is GOOD FOR YOU adds up very quickly. I am ALL in favor of mandating what food stamps can and can't be spent on and I'd even be willing to hand over my own monthly candy bar I purchase on shopping day if it meant that these overweight, over-breeding, over-consuming, pieces of trash couldn't abuse the system anymore. And I'd like to fire this conversation right back up by adding a little fuel....Did you all know that RED BULL IS AN EBT ACCEPTED ITEM!!!!!!!? What the Holy H---!!!!!!!
I am so sick and tired of watching this welfare sucking wastes of space use and reuse the system. In my hometown we call them the "2.5" people...meaning every 2 and a half years they pop out a new kid so they never have to be off welfare. I believe we should do a China style limitation where anything over TWO kids and YOU are personally responsible for everything, NO government assistance for your other 343456 kids, I bet that would nip this in the bud. Kids are an accessory that people use to get all they can out of life and more than they are frankly entitled to.

And all of THIS from a welfare recipient who is going to college to become a doctor so I can GET OFF OF WELFARE, because remember folks...it is a path to SELF SUFFICIENCY, NOT a crutch to use for the rest of your life.

Ok this whole food stamp reimbursement, is a little ridiculous. I am a 34 yr old single mom of two, I have worked my whole life I have paid the tax money. I had to get food stamps not because I am too lazy to work, but because I lost my job and getting child support is like getting teeth pulled, and people are so quick to judge and to be quite honest I didn't do the reimbursement form because it's not fair to the people who lost their food who doesn't receive food stamps and second it's just people being greedy!!! So before people judge food stamp recipients think about it I use it to feed my kids not to sell them for drugs or whatever I'm also not over weight and neither are my children!!!

You have spoken the truth, nothing wrong with being on them but don't abuse the system and start having kids at age 15 and live on the system the rest of their life. Should be for emergency help only for example loss of a job etc.....

73? You should have Medicare. That covers MD and drugs. Why would you need Medicaid?

Medicare isn't magic insurance that pays for everything. Sadly, most older people still have to pay about 20% of their medical expenses plus about 35% of their medications. on a fixed income I would imagine it would be very difficult. they are fortunate they qualify for Medicaid, or misfortunate depending on how you look at it because older people with Medicare have to have literally next to nothing or outrageous medical expenses to qualify.

I have to eat a special diet for my health and I lost alot of my food in the power outage....thank God they are reimbursing food stamps. And by the way my husband WORKS full time. So I don't feel like I'm getting any free handouts.

Bush left office in 2008. It is now 2012, 4 years later. Maybe it is time to stop blaming him for every fucking problem that we have? Yeah, he was a douchebag, but come on. Obama has been the one "running" the country for the past 4 years, don't you think some of this is his fault? Why blame Bush? Explain exactly how you think "Bush is whats wrong with America". Go ahead, shower us with your retarded logic.

my mom is on food stamps but she has a reason. she totally messed up her back on the job when she was 35 had to have 4 surgeries and then another on her neck. she can barley walk today she truly needs it we dont have my dad anymore he died when i was 9 im 17 now im trying to get a job to save for college because i wanna be a working girl lol. But I agree there are people out there who dont need it and it pisses me off because when im a vet about 1/3 of my money will be going to those people. i dont mind helping my mom she needs the help but like my cousin she has a baby and doesnt even want her baby but shes keeping her because she gets a ssi check for 600 welfare for 200 and wick. seriously those kinds of people make me so mad. I think they should help the ones who need the help like the truly incapable working ones, elderly, and mentally disabled not the lazy fat people

I know this is gonna start an argument, but I think it's bs to give everyone extra food stamps to cover what was lost in the storm, and its based on honesty!! The storm was on June 29, I doubt many people had much left at that point anyway! I work and lost food, who wants to replace it? Oh wait, I'll have to do it and mess up my budget. The news also says that people spend their foodstamps wisely! Haha what a joke. They always have carts piled with all kinds of novelty foods, cereals, candy, little Debbie cakes and Pepsi. You all know what I mean, no one paying cash overflows a cart with crap the way they do!
i know its alittle late now, but next time contact FEMA and the American Red Cross. you would be surprised what kind of help hardworking people actually get even if they dont get state assitance. sometimes they may refer you to a food bank, but if you are truley put out that bad everthing helps.

I can see your points here but it is not only your dollars it is everyone’s money from taxes including ones that pay food tax. I suppose all of you would rather see money going overseas to some unverified cause. Who needs enemies with neighbors like all of you?

There are people who work and still need them to get by. If you do need them then it was vital that you get reimbursed or you children and family would have gone without food for up to two weeks. Some people dont get theirs until th 20th of the month. I personally work my ass off and still can't afford food and most of my bills after paying for childcare and bills and rent as a single mom I do need them No I dont believe people should live on them but some people do need them. and yes I do load down when I go to the store I budget my fs to go to the store twice a month and I dont get junk I cook everyday. So before judging everyone as a whole please realize some do need them.

Hey and even worse the same type of people who do drugs and lay around and never worked and gets checks - they also get help from churhes. They go from one church to another, one food pantry to another, therefore their stamps can be traded for money or to buy JUNK AT THE STORE.

I told one preacher in my area if his church continues giving to the druggies and thieves that maybe he'd like to pay some of my bills too so I'd have more money for things I WANT, not need. He laughed and said "all the church can do is believe the people who ask for help. They also help compulsive gamblers and when they get money they run to the machines, etc. UGH !!!
