I am recovering from my second brain surgery and am having a REALLY rough time. I love in charleston and was hoping to find some sort of support group somewhere within an hour of home would be nice. If anyone has ANY info please let me know. Thank you!

Not sure about a support group specifically for brain tumors, but CAMC has a cancer support group. You might want to give that a try. I'm a cancer survivor and I actually went down to Huntington to a Young Adults with Cancer support group because there weren't any groups for young adults in the Charleston area.

Haven't been in a while, but all the people there are really nice. It helps to be around people that have been in a similar situation. You should check it out and see if its for you. If you don't feel comfortable with that group you should check out another. Might help to go to a psychologist too. I've done that as well, and they really help you put things into perspective.

Yea I already am doing the psychologist thing but I need to be around people who don't just cushion my feelings bc they don't understand. I need that interaction with those who do understand bc they've experience it. Thank u ALOT.

Its tough, and obviously with kids its even tougher. You should definitely call the people at Young Adults with Cancer and see when they meet next. There are a couple of people there with kids, and they can definitely empathize with you. Its not real intense where everyone is just telling each other of their own experiences, but when you talk people listen and respond.
